Tempeture Monitors....

My new case has 2 tempeture monitors, they look like little wires in clear plastic.

One is for the CPU one is for the HD, where on the CPU and Hard drive should I put them for optimum readings?

For an AMD 3700 64bit what is a good temp range?

Also what a good temp range is for a Western Digital Raptor 74 gig SATA drive?

What case is it, and what do the ends of the wires look like?

It depends on the endings of those wires i believe.

I have one right next to the CPU touching the side of the heatspreader on my 3000+, and it gives a fairly stable reading 5 °C lower than what MBM5 reports. I also have one on my hard drive, but I don't find much use for it... if I were you, I'd put it next to the NB or GPU instead.
