Okay, to set the record straight for temperatures, and I guess especially Abit boards (but this faq answer is directed towards every motherboard) read this. I have an IC7 with a SLK-800U and I've used AS3, Nanotherm XTC, ASC, and I've lapped my heatsink. Still 48 idle - 60 load. But what did I run on my old Asus board (same proc, same hs)? 40 idle and 52 load. So I'm not really worried at all. Hope that helps brett.

PS: Thanks to Nevin from Arctic Silver for that link.

temp dropped quite a bit recently.. it now runs at 45 idle and 54 load (and its overclocked 3ghz @ 3.6ghz)... Can't say i have any idea why... although i do seem to remmeber arctic silver saying it takes a couple days for their paste to reach the proper consistancy and work really well.

Do you realize that when you do that, all you cooling scheme flies right out the window, and you're dealing with plain old convection cooling? Put the side on the case, and let it run for a couple of hours. I'm betting you'll see a difference! Your fans will actually work the way they were designed to!
You think his temps will drop with the side panel on? I'd be surprised to see temps DECREASE when putting a side panel on -- I know my system definitely runs cooler with the side panel off.

your case is lousy then🙂 more fans!
