Temperature Woes

Yeah, despite having watercooling, I still have temperatures woes.


I know I need to buy chipset blocks for my 680i b/c my NB is at 85-100C and my southbridge no longer cools very well (heatpiped to NB).

But I've been running F@H stable now for a day or so and my cores are at 50C. No problem. But my "CPU" temperatures as reported from the WinBond sensor is at 100C (as read by HWMonitor and Everest Ultimate). That is by the socket, but my temp probe on my socket is at 47C and the cores are at 50C. Why is "CPU" so high?

I've actually heard of this a couple times now on 680i boards, it may be a flaw. If you've got an external sensor reporting 47C and your cores at 50C I'd disregaurd it as extraneous. May I suggest HR-05 IFX's for your chipset woes? Recently used them for a customers build and the SB was running passive at about 3C above ambeint and the NB was running a 20cfm 80x15 at about 10C above ambeint on an X38 board.

Thanks. Well, I'm migrating to a new case soon and I think I'm going to add (with the extra space) a MCR120Res/Rad with DDCT-01s (MCP350 w/ PTS Top) and 2 MCW30 (NB/SB) and 2 EK PWM blocks. The PWM's usually are around 44C but can top out around 65C and so I will just add the green watercooling loop i've always wanted.

There's an awesome thread on xtreme systems where a guy put a tripple loop into his Ll2100. He used blue red and purple but, I can forgive him.

That was my original plan for my watercooling system. I actually linked that in my original proposal thread for my w/c system a while ago but budget constraints limit that kind of overkill for me.
