Temperature Readings.

Oops, I dunno what happened but I double posted nothing!

Anyways, I installed motherboard monitor 5 and I've gotten 3 temperature readings.

They are 29 degrees C, 50 degrees C and 35 degrees C

I'm guessing the 29 degrees C is the case temperature?

50 degrees CPU?

35 degrees Video Card?

Anyways to figure out where each reading is from...?

most likely. what proc? 35 could be proc depending on what HSF, and processor you have

Temperature monitoring programs seem to suffer from terminal uslessness.

ABit gave me USELESS winbond hardware doctor for my MoBo and it tells me my system temperature
is 20 degrees above the CPU core temperature which is 5 degrees lower than the CPU surface temperature.

I tried Motherboard Monitor and is was almost as helpful.


Finally, I tried this.....

I ran the system 'full blast' for a while and then booted into the PC health as quickly as I could to see which temperature
of the windows app. was the CPU.

I also tried letting the system cool all the way too room temperature. (at least a couple hours with cover off)
then I booted up and watched the windows app.

I reasoned:

the fastest rising temperature must be the CPU core
the second fastest rising temperature must be the CPU surface
the slowest rising temperature must be the system.

in the end, I never really was able to differentiate the CPU core and surface temperature (I know it is one of them and assume the highest)

the system temperature....... well I determined (assumed) it is just misreported at 60C 20 seconds after the computer is turned on.... plus... it never changes.

don't know if this helps or not, but at least you know you are not alone.

my monitoring, is ACCURATE, but that may be because i am on intel, so it has internal diodes, and i am using speed fan, but all monitors have always been accurate for me. soit all depends

allright, that makes sense to me! I know the 29 is the case for sure adn the 50 is definately teh CPU now but I'm still lost as to the 35 temp. I didn't think my GeForce Ti4200 had a temp sensor or anything so CPU at Socket Sounds good. Thanx

yeah, i never knew what 10 inches looked like, but i do know what 13" looks like.
