I installed a 3500+ clawhammer on an Asus A8V Deluxe motherboard. The bios says my cpu temp is 52C while motherboard monitor is reporting it at 32C. Why is there such a discrepancy in temps?

Your CPU is usually working full blast before you reach the OS (Windows) where the software can keep the CPU at idle until it's called to execute some tasks.

I've never heard that before. I've never seen it either but then again, this is my first Athlon 64. Thanks for the reply.

Same here. 30C idle once in Windows with CnQ enabled. If it would just run stable at stock speed I would be happy with the board!

I don't have CnQ enabled though. I figured out that mbm was using the wrong sensor for the cpu. I changed it and now I get proper readings. Cpu idles at 50C though. I'm not too happy with that.

You can try Everest or Speedfan -- they are quite accurate.
