Hi, is there another temp monitor besides these two?
Tried CoreTemp but on install gives me a error as "This is not an Intel Core Processor, this prgm will not continue" I thought it was, is a Celeron D.
In any case, I can run Everest but gives me high readings (53 C).
Will like to confirm this reading with another prgm if availabe.
thank you
Emachine T2862
WinXP home SP2
Ram 1GB
Intel Celeron D 330,2666MHz (20x133)
Thank you
David

Well, let me put it to you this way...

I'm running an OC'ed Intel P4 Extreme Edition CPU. I don't hit temps like that until I'm pushing 4.0GHz!

So, yes, that's WAY too hot, IMHO... ;)

Um...

Just out of curiosity, what's your CPU Usage?

Maybe some process running in the background is pegging it @ 100% all of the time...

Okay, well, I'd say YOUR machine has a prob then...

50C'ish isn't going to kill your CPU - it's within spec.

I think I'd try to figure out what's going on, rather than assume the temp monitors are at fault. ;)

When's the last time you blew the dust out of your HSF?

Well I did a Google search for HSF and found "Health Services Foundation." I do not believe this is what you mean, what is it?
I agree with you, same reading from 2 different monitors.
The motherboard temp is about 10 C lower, now is 42C
Now, will do some cleaning, yet I believe is clean, I run this computer open with a A/C filter as a lid and overall the air coming from the PSU as well as the fan from the CPU is cooler than my hand temp, but again will not argue with those sensors.
Wonder if I should be looking into new cooler?

As a rule of thumb...

In summertime (Arizona), my CPU is usually 5-10C hotter than my mobo. That's because ambients are so horrible here...

In wintertime, my CPU is often the same temp as my mobo, or at least within a couple of degrees.

So, maybe your reading are NOT that far off, assuming you live in the northern hemisphere - it's summertime right now, where you live - and your computer room is warm.

New cooler? Never hurts!

HSFs are a moving target! They're getting better n' better all the time!

Personally, I run Tuniq Tower 120s (they're cheap & plentiful these days) but to each his own!

For now, I think I would start by blowing all the crud out of my case - this is especially true, if you have a face-down CPU cooler. Those things are dust magnets because there's no place for the dust to go except into the heat sink! They will pack-up solid and quit working in a couple of months, around here... :)
