Temp Windows Install

I haven't had a windows box in a few years but I'll be activating a comcast cable account this weekend and I know they require you to run their installation cd which requires windows. I found an old windows 98 cd & floppy along with my reg key. However, when I go to the windows 98 setup they both ask me to insert a boot disc into the cdrom. I thought what I have in the cdrom was the boot disk, no?

I saw in another post that someone had an xp evaluation cd. I looked around microsoft's site but didn't see it. Basically I just need a windows install for a couple hours to activate my account - I'd rather do this than haggle with the comcast tech support people to do it manually for me.

Thanks,
JH

Thanks, I ran across that before. I'll give it a try. Overkill may be an understatement to install windows 2003 server to send a MAC address.

I would be quite surprised to know you have to run some sort of software to get an internet connection. It will be faster to call comcast than setup Windows 98 (yucky!).

FYI, the 98 CD is not bootable. You need a boot floppy w/ cdrom support.
