temp readings wrong?!

my cpu will be at 45 on load and idle@ 40, but after i put it on standby and restart it back up right away, my idle temp in mobo monitor just start to drop until its like 2-4 degrees above ambient idle. but after like prime95 the temp rises back up to 45 again.. Why does it do this? does standby like shutdown part of my cpu until it needs to be used?😕

When your computer is idle the temps lower. When your PC is in standby they should be even lower as the components are not getting much power. The temps should rise when you use your PC (ie Prime95). This sounds to me like normal behavior. Use the PC = higher temp. PC @ idle = lower temp. Standby should yeild even lower temps than idle.

no no.. i mean when it starts back up.. my temps just start to drop down to from 40 idle to 32 idle after standby. What im asking is why does my idle drop so much after it starts back up from standby

Ah. My guess is that when your PC goes into standby the monitoring software stops working. So your temps lower, but the software doesn't know this. So, immediately after you resume from standby the software adjusts for your actual current temp, rather than the last temp it recorded.
