what can i use other than the nVidia Driver itself to see what the temp is... i got riva tuner to play with clock speeds and such but i dont see a temp section.....

This has been covered in many posts and on many forums before. do a search for temperature monitoring and 6600. You need to flash your bios basically. need nvflash and an editor to turn on the temperature sensor bit.
very easy. I tried it on my 6600 (non GT) and it works fine.
