temp monitoring of external USB enclosure?

Hi everyone, I've tried the forum search but didn't see any relevant results so here goes:

Recently purchased a WD1501FASS and a Rosewill RX35 USB 3.0 enclosure. I noticed it got quite toasty when transferring the initial 300GB backup. WD says it's OK if it's under 60C but cooler is better, right? Problem is, I can't figure out what the actual drive temperature is!

I tried HWMonitor (same people that put out CPUID) and SpeedFan and neither detects this external enclosure. It's only for backup and is usually turned off when not in use, but still... Can anyone recommend a SMART tool that check the temp of the drive in this enclosure (or just suggest a bunch that I can try)?

Many thanks!

This enclosure was released after that forum post was made, so I'll try both of the mentioned tools when I get home... thanks!

I mean its not to detect the external enclosure but rather to find your hard drive and give it SMART readings. It should show up my friend I don't know why it isn't. But the drive shows up in my computer ??? just not in those utilities apps.

Good, and thanks for the HDDscan link.

I think you posted on the wrong thread, Tweaker... at least I hope. It's the only thing that would make sense.
