hi everyone!
ive just loaded both encyclopaedia britannica cd's to my hardrive successfully to save carrying them around.i then went to the web site and downloaded updates.a .99mb exe was then placed on my desktop and when i tried to instal it an error message came up stating-"the decompression %s failed.there may not be enough free disk space available in the temp directory"
is it possible to delete files from the temp directory without harm,if so which ones,or should i delete all of them.
why should installshield self extracting .exe need space in a temp directory anyway.
i'd be most greatful if someone could assist me in this matter in simple terms.as you can see i'm no wiz.
regards hally:confused:

In running installation programs, the install program itself might need some hard drive space to run itself- usually it will use the windows/temp directory as that source. Try deleting some old files on your c drive that you probably dont need. Yeah, pretty much deleting files in your temp directory won't cause you any probs. It's there temporary! ;)
