These mini PCs are getting more and more popular.

I guess that it s where the market is heading , at each
enhancement thoses cheap chips are closer to render
irrelevant the traditional DT form factors for the average
people usages.

It doesn't bother me, frankly- I'd rather have people using a tiny removable VESA mounted PC than a completely un-upgradeable iMac clone. So long as the comfort of a proper desk, proper keyboard, proper mouse and proper monitor is maintained, it's A-okay with me. 😉

(Full disclosure- I helped set up a ZBox ID82 for my girlfriend, with a 35W Sandy Bridge i3 in it. It's a hell of a nice system for anyone who doesn't care about games.)

Indeed games are the only popular usage that keep the traditionnal market alive , there s really no other usual task that require more than a Jaguar or a Btrail, AMD was right when they said that we have reached a level at wich there s enough computing power for the masses taste and that the next big thing will be prices shrinking to attract customers from emerging
countries , i guess that the massive financial crysis just increased the low
cost items market size by including parts of develloped countries as well.

samsung ativ book 9 lite with a 13W max load vs acer v5-122p with a 23W max load

what a difference, can it be chalked up to the ssd? display? wireless module or acer just had a bad design...

We have a 122p for one of the girl kids. Its a very girly machine. Lol. We bought it at nexus 7 2013 price level. Excellent product at that stupidly low price imho.
As for the 23w max load i dont know what they did to get there. Perhaps its the ips panel. But i can say its not the apu. Even under load its nowhere near that
About 8-10w playing dota2 is my subjective impression. The 4 core feels nearly as fast in office use as my ulv ib 9 series samsung ultrabook costing 4.5 times as much. Lol.

But i wouldnt waste a ssd on it. To slow to really use it. Next gen temash will get there. A good match for a mechanical hd. Lol.
