Wonder who is behind it?

Conservatives for Patients? Rights

Who???

Creating the appearance of public momentum against health care reform

Conservatives for Patients Rights is a front group organized in 2009 by Richard Scott to fight U.S. president Barack Obama's proposals for health reform. According to the Politico news site, Scott has raised $20 million to fight health care reform.

CRC Public Relations -- the conservative PR firm previously known as Creative Response Concepts -- works with Conservatives for Patients Rights. CRC is the firm "that masterminded the 'Swift boat' attacks against 2004 Democratic presidential candidate John F. Kerry," reported the Washington Post.

But...but who is Richard Scott???

Scott previously started the for-profit hospital chain in 1987 that later became the $23 billion Columbia/HCA. He was ousted from this post in 1997 after an FBI investigation of Columbia/HCA that led to 14 felony convictions and $1.7 billion in criminal and civil fines for Medicare fraud.

This is old news, but true and relevant. It really is as simple as following the money to see who is really pushing certain agendas. It would be nice if the MSM would actually do this. Rick Sanchez did have this guy on his show and called him on this a few weeks ago, but info like this it should be everywhere.

The Hits just keep on coming ...

I'd like to have a reasonable discussion (not that it is really possible) on the use of PR/Marketing firms to drive public opinion.

It is obvious who the 'masters' of the anti- (meaningful) health care reform represent. From 'Conservatives for Patients? Rights' to 'Freedomworks' to the 'Our Country Deserves Better' PAC there are 100s of millions of dollars being spent to frame the debate, much of it from the Insurance/Hospital/Health Care industry.

And, of course, Columbia/HCA, et al, do not want legislation passed to further crack down on fraud. I've always questioned the number of medical firms/providers/suppliers whose existence is predicated on a steady stream of revenue from the gov't.

No room for hanky-panky there, huh?

Well it's OFN to people around here, but most of the electorate has no clue.

The MSM has dabbled in some of this here and there, but they still generally end up giving them undue credibility.

Rachel Maddow dropped the hammer on Dick Armey on the MTP a few weeks ago, I have no doubts that he'll be invited back long before she will.

Wait, the government pushes socialist government run health care, and the Obama-fan media goes along with it..... and other groups raise money to fight it. What's the problem?

Anyone that cites the proposed reforms as "government run health care" is immediately demoted to the short bus. Some were already there though.

Conservatives for Patients? Rights;

Okay but they get to explain to each and every senior who is on Medicare why they no longer have that nasty government run health care system! After all no public plan means NO public plans!

You can drown out the arguments with false facts and misleading logic. It destroys any semblance of a reasonable debate with enough money.
