Tell me why you support your given candidate

...WITHOUT mentioning the opposing candidate AND/OR the current administration's policies, faults, and dislikes as reasons. Just give straight policies and praise for your respected choice.

I'm tired of hearing and seeing people claim support for their candidate when all they can seem to do is bash the other and/or our current President. Think we can do that?

Checks & Balances is about the best that I can come up with. I prefer that the Congress and Exec off be split between the parties. Too many bad things happen when one party controls both - don't matter which party it is.

And mine wants to drill for oil, along with pursuing alt energy. I don't think there's much difference between the candidates regarding Iraq and most other issues.

On second thought, whom they choose as replacements for the geezers stepping down from the SCOTUS might be another reason.

this is one of the reasons why the founding fathers did NOT want political parties.

I believe Obama would...

1. Nominate liberal justices for the next SC appointees.

2. Be better in regard to foreign policy and as the 'face of the nation'.

3. Favor my income bracket in future tax proposals.

That's the first 3 I can think of before the 10:30 meeting.

How's that been working out for you?

Seems to it's working out OK. Better then the previous 6 years, anyway.

I support the candidate who seems like he wants to take a proactive approach to solving the problems facing our country.

I think our healthcare system is messed up, and discriminates against the poor and sick. I feel that private HMOs have taken Americans for a walk. I feel access to healthcare should be a right, not a privaledge for the rich.

I want someone who is serious about breaking our dependence on foreign oil, as that is the only way we will ever get out of the mayhem that is the middle east.

I want someone who can repair our foreign image, but still stand up for American values. It's nice to turn on a TV of a demonstration in Europe and not see American flags on fire.

I'm worried about our education system and want a president who will take steps to address the disparity between schools in wealthy districts vs. those in low income neighborhoods. Investing in American children's education will pay off massive dividends in the long run.

I also want a candidate who is intelligent, one who doesn't embarass the country everytime he speaks, and who has the ability to make realistic decisions, admit they are wrong, and adjust policies to fit the needs of the country rather than walking a party line.

I also want more judges appointed that recognize the importance of seperation of church and state, as well as the seperation of powers.

Does any candidate match all of these? No...but one of them is better than the other.

Obama is a tidal wave. The damning of history erected by the backward and the retrograde is about to be washed away. The Will of God is on its way.

The panic and fear are palpable, eh?

gays in the military and liberal supreme court justices.

I think obama will make a purely mediocre president and disappoint a lot of his followers (see the post right above mine), but F it.

Because I believe that neither party has a truly compelling candidate, even though I voted for McCain back in 2000 when he was running against Bush.

Because I agree with noninterventionist foreign policy.

Because I believe in the free market system as described by Ludwig von Mises and Milton Friedman.

Because I believe in reducing Federal programs in favor of State or Local programs administered by people closer to those affected by the programs.

Because I believe that America should not be bound by decisions made by international organizations like the UN or the World Bank.

Because I believe that we should be socially liberal.

I'm not expecting him to accomplish all, or necessarily even any, of what I posted. I simply want someone who is going to try and push for those changes. It's not possible for a single president to do all that I think needs to be done in order to turn the US around, although they certainly can screw it up quick.

If you had to ask my top issue, it's simple: Healthcare. As a young adult cancer survivor (my wife is one as well) I believe our healthcare system is fundamentally broken. Obama is the only candidate who I think will take the steps needed to fix it.

Well, at least they've done a great job reigning in spending and gotten that deficit down 🙂

Life discriminates against the poor, that is what being poor is.

Why does this even matter? We've got a democrat controlled congress.

What do you mean why does this matter? Didnt I make it pretty clear on my reasoning?

Pretty much my reasoning too.

We all saw how great the Carter government was and the Bush government up until 2006. Agreed here.

I believe that everyone should be able to drive whatever car they want. I mean a family of 8 on minimum wage can't all fit in a kia rio. They need a free suburban.

We need an actual plan to get our troops out of Iraq - not more of the same - and get this - GASP - a timeline to do so (note - time horizon is the most ridiculous term in politics in the last 5 years)
We need someone to actually stand up and say that adding more oil to the equation isn't going to solve the bigger problem, which is our reliance on oil in the first place.
We need someone who can speak to us and to the world and not look like a complete and utter moron.
We need someone who doesn't cater to the super-rich and the oil lobby.

Reforming health care? I highly doubt it can actually happen - i think cheaper perscription drugs might happen, but not much else.
Supreme Court justices? I think the approval process takes care of that just fine - I'm totally fine with Roberts - though admittedly a few of the people Bush pushed for were total jokes - but they didn't get to the bench, so it all works out. Other federal judges can be important as well, but not a huge issue to me.

I'd love to see a candidate address the level of violence in this country, but of course that isn't going to happen with the NRA and such pouring hundreds of millions of dollars into our politicians hands.

I'd also love to see a candidate that admits our war on drugs is a huge waste of money, time, and lives - and either greatly reform it or throw it out altogether - again, not going to happen.
