Wait, so is it ok if he takes a dump if you are taking a shower? I mean, what if he really has to go? It is easier that way.

Or what if he has to pee when you are taking a shower? I mean, the water is already running in the shower and you are going to wash your feet anyways, right?

Ya, it's pretty stupid that he doesn't want your underwear in his laundry. But to base your argument totally on saving electricity and water is not the greatest, imho. There are so many things that you could do to be more efficient (like the aboved mentioned), but ppl have their preferences. Seriously, you ARE going to wash your feet anyways, right?

I would be happy if I had a girlfriend who washed her underwear with my clothes.

It just so happened that today I did the laundry and mixed everything. If I did the laundry separately, that would take 2 loads, meaning 2 times more water and 2 times more electricity. Isn't that a waste? And, it would have taken two times longer to get done. Don't mix dump and shower with clothes. Its different.

In my 2 years at AT I have learned an important lesson. No matter what your position is, there is always someone here that is going to argue with you.

Man:

1. If I had an SO, that'd be great.
2. If she did my laundry, that'd be even greater!

Why the hell would I complain? I'm freakin lazy!

Dude should wash his own clothes.

Superstition isn't much superstition if he can't even reason out some good excuse. If it "just is" and it is not a commonly accepted part of the culture, that's simply stupidity and willingness to waste his and your time.

What it all boils down to is he does not want you to see the skid marks...
no man wants his gf to see the skid marks, once (if) you two are married, then its a different story.

Just tell him if he's afraid of any mingling of clothes, then mingling of bodies must be very taboo.
I think his complaints will die quickly ;)

Juniper,
I know how you feel about washing his clothes. I do both (my bf's & mine) all the time. He dosen't mind that i was my underware with his, but i know you are probably doing it out of love too... doesn't he understand that? If he is sick, thats one thing, but he should NOT be b!tching about your underware. If you're living together, he is gonna have to accept this.

Is there something you need to tell us about the condition of your underwear before it goes into the wash?

How is it different? If you are taking a shower, and your bf wants to pee, it is much more efficient for him to simply open up the shower and pee away. The water is already running so your bf won't have to waste the water from flushing the toilet, and incidentally your shower will not go hot and cold from him flushing the toilet. Ya you'll get pee on your feet, but you're just going to wash them anyways.

Anyways, I agree with you about the underwear thing, I just don't think efficiency arguments are always the best since we do so many things inefficiently in the name of personal preference. I'm sure you don't prefer having pee on your feet.

if everything's going in with soap and coming out clean... why does it matter if the dirty laundry is mixing?
some people just like to argue for no reason.
