Nope, thats the normal TSOP I think its called packaging, and yes its most likely both Registered and ECC SDRAM

It appears to be, as you cannot see any of the solder connections to the memory chips. Look at some Kingmax memory to compare it to as they use BGA memory chips.

I can't tell from the picture. It's a little too blurry. But from what I can see, it appears to be BGA. By the way that looks like a Registered ECC DIMM to me.

On a BGA package, you can't see the connections - they are small balls of solder on the bottom of the package. (BGA => Ball Grid Array).

On a TSOP package, you see the connections as metal wires that come out of the side of the package, and then are soldered along the side of the package. (TSOP => Thin Small Outline Package)

So if you look at the chips and you see small wires coming out of the side, it's TSOP. If you can't see any wires at all, it's BGA.

Hmmmm, I didn't if it was registered ECC. I'm going to compare it with other modules I have.

that is definitely BGA pacakging. if you look to the right of the bottom chip, you can see the smaller chip using TSOP packaging.
