my current rig
e8400
8gb ram
ati 7770 1gb
400w sparkle power rails are .3 to .6 above ratings at load
old rig had a 9600gt in it and was rock solid
Had a 9600gt before got a 7770 recently but I keep getting stop errors when playing games. stock clock speed is 1000mhz. I lowered it to 950mhz and its stableish as it still crashes in some games but not bf3 or crysis just some random games like walking dead and arkham origins.
total power consumption with 9600gt is 195w (killawatt meter used)
with 7770 rails still holding above their respective numbers and killawatt shows 190 (added a few hds since 9600gt)
My question is what could be causing this? I used the latest official and beta drivers
heats a non issue. psu seems strong. everything is stable with the 9600gt. Is it the card?
I have requested an advanced rma so I will find out soon but I want to see if anyone has other ideas.
I also ran furmark along with a video encoding to stress both. tested all ram. removed extra unneeded for tests hds/
