Well I do have to agree. When I picked up the H100, the guy at the counter said "Gonna overclock the crap out of something, arent we?!" and when I looked at him and said "No. Just stock speed" he laughed. And then everyone around me began to laugh. And then they looked at me and said "No seriously, what you planning to overclock?" and I said I wasnt joking.

They all went silent and looked at me like I was psychotic.

So I got the hint... So I'll try overlcocking it a bit if someone tells me what I should/should not do and what to look out for.

Wait, you didn't get a 7.9 in WEI? I recommend an upgrade.

Got 7.9 on all catergoies except RAM.... RAM timings are 9-9-9-24, DDR3 XMP1600 32GB.

gave me a 7.7, but the strange thing is... the mobo is saying the RAM is running only at 1333mhz. there's an XMP1400 profile ready, but not one for XMP1600 (when i had just 16GB of the same RAM, it did list a XMP1600 profile). there's a slider to up stuff, but not sure what I need to up to get it to run at the 1600. I wonder if that alone would give me the .2 bump in WEI and get me a pefect 7.9 score.

This thread is full of fail... it´s like a gay man having a bunch of naked female supermodels in his bed.

I'm still not convinced that you're not indeed psychotic buying an H100 and an unlocked processor to run it stock.

Seriously, like Russell Peters says...BE A MAN!

Regarding power supplies...

A typical power supply will run most efficiently at right around half the rated power. Best thing to do is check out the efficiency curves for any PS you are thinking about buying and compare to how much power your system actually uses.

That with "best around half of rated power" while true is IMHO for good psu not that important. The difference is like between 85% at 10% load and 92% at 50% load. Low efficiency also means low power draw hence the actual energy you waste at low loading percentage is very, very small. IMHO you need a good PSU to have good efficiency over a big range not for peak efficiency (only looking at it in terms of efficiency).

Well. I willingly admit im not quite sure how. I've never bothered overclocking a processor before.

Not sure what the hell I do, multipliers, voltage, clock, ???

I've got this goofyass Intel Visual Bios that makes it look like all I do is "slide" a bar to the right to increase core default speed, but i dont think it can possibly be that simple, can it?

Hey Beavermatic,

Ideally it is that easy. Visual BIOS is very upfront about the parameters being changed when the overclocking slider on the front page of Visual BIOS is used. Be wary of the memory slider, because it's infinitely harder to guarantee memory settings will work across different sticks. If you go to the Advanced->Performance section you can actually watch the processor values being changed as you move the slider. It is not guaranteed that just cranking the slider up all the way will give you a stable overclock, but the settings do work on the majority of systems with proper cooling based on a lot of testing.

An easy way to think about that slider is as a starting point; you are free to tweak any settings you like after using the slider to establish a higher clock, but at your own peril. Be sure to read up about overclocking before you get started tweaking those more advanced settings, because it can be tricky the deeper down the rabbit hole you go!

Oh, and please tweet feedback to @VisualBIOS if you have any recommendations for making Visual BIOS less goofy!
