tell me about your lame speaker setup!!

Speakers??? All have is one bud (other other is broken) off a handheld tape recorder on a 12" wire so I have to hunch over my system to listen to music. 🙁

Head phones, 10 year old sony headphones, extention cable that is mono so only one side works, but there's a flakey connection in that side so it doesn't always work.

I had el cheapo speakers on my box.. you know the ones that are about the size of a deck of playing cards..

No range whatsoever..

Then I slapped myself and got DTT2500

I have some FPS2000's, but I had to leave them at home. 🙁

I currently use Sony MDR-CD60 headphones (not too great).

i had an offer to get the dtt 3500's for 199 this morn, gave it to a junior member
but head phones, i got 2 pair, one is a a blah, other is a xitel force feedback set up, when you listen to a quitar solo on the fps 2k's you hear the quitarist move around the stage, with the xitel's you feel the bass move thru your head from left to right!!!!!!!

1/8" to 1/4" adapter plugs into soundcard (reduces the stereo to mono as well, which means I kinda' have to jury-rig it by only plugging in the guitar cord halfway). Guitar cord runs to my BX50 bass amp.

Well... I only do that when I feel like busting jams like "Who Let the Dogs Out" so everyone in my building can enjoy. Otherwise, I use my Koss R/90 phones. Good quality for the price (~$40).

No speakers, but A pair of Sony MDR-V600 headphones. Definatly the best $90 I ever spent. They go everywhere w/ me. Great for Lanparties also.

Be Cool,
Will

yeah, my other head phones are a koss set, good stuff, and not as heavy as the Xitel's, the xitels fly off your head if you turn too fast, each speaker wieghs as much as my fps sattelites

The lamest computer speakers I ever had were Pioneer 3-way towers with 12" woofers, powered by a Sony STR-AV310. I upgraded since then to Polk Monitor6 for the mains, powered by a Sony STR-DE805G, and Infinity 2000.1 for the rears powered by the STR-AV310. My Koss headphones absolutely suck...haven't heard a pair yet that sound decent...they just sit in a drawer. My Sony MDR-V6 are much better.

I have a set of altec lansings... ACS40 Powercubes with a subwoofer. My roommate and I were getting in a little "speaker war" as to who had the best speakers about a year ago so I went to the local computer shop and bought the most expensive set there. If only I had had anandtech in my life back then I could have made a smarter choice... 🙂
