Key for me would be self sufficiency. Lots of land for growing my own crops and raising livestock, solar power, fresh water. The house itself I really dont care for giant houses, I just want a log style home with a large stone fireplace, a great room with high ceilings and spectacular view of mountains or valley, then only other special feature maybe indoor pool since swimming is my favorite form of exercise. Oh and every room in my house would be a gun room 🙂

My basic criteria:

I own it (or am working to own it). NO renting.
In a decent neighborhood, in an area I like, with no worse than a 1:4 dickhead neighbor to cool neighbor ratio.
Good sized yard.
3 - 4 car well-lit, well-stocked, secure, climate controlled garage. With hydraulic lift. 😀
At least 2 BR, 2 bath.

Don't care for a big house. A house roughly 1000s sq ft. With a 2 story garage. And a golf course nearby. The place must be sunny most of the time.

I would really like to have a nice backyard with a large amount of trees; it would have a basement and the bathroom in my room would be big enough to have a Jacuzzi; also a large closet.

I've always wanted an observatory on the roof. Never really thought about the rest.

About 3500sqft, three bedrooms upstairs along with an office and a loft area. Guest room downstairs, big kitchen which opens up the the dining/living/great room with a media nook to fit a big TV. About an acre of land or so to plant things. In a nice, quiet suburban area with some nice parks nearby. Somewhere in CA expensive enough to keep out the riff-raff.
