the 3 coil charger by TYLT Vu might be incompatible with nexus 5 (causes it to heat up a lot). the manufacturer may have a fix for it

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2522361

also, I believe Qi standard goes up to 1amp, which gives you maybe 700mah feeding to your phone

some Qi devices can only deliver/accept only 0.5 amp

Actually that's interesting. My Nexus4 gets hot quite often but my Note 3 gets hot only rarely. Could it be LG's battery chemistry? Especially now that N5 seems to suffer the same.

I have Nokia DT-900 and DT-910, an unbranded 3 coil charger and TYLT Vu. Same results with those chargers too.

If you have to find a precise spot to get the phone charging, might as well save your money and stick with the cable no?
Yeah, there's enough margin of error that I wonder what people are talking about when they mention "precise placement". Or is this only with the Nexus Orb (that I'm not using)?
I have two phones (Droid DNA) and a tablet (Nexus 7) with wireless charging... And I have two different charging pads (LG and Incipio)... And there's no difficulty whatsoever getting them to charge. No "precise spot" to find.

I received my Choe wireless charger ($30) today:

http://www.amazon.com/UPGRADED-Wirel.../dp/B00C40OG22

I purchased the Yipin iPhone 4S charger: ($15)

http://www.amazon.com/YIPIN-Standard.../dp/B00F94ZOMQ

Works great! Literally plug & play. The case is nice & thin (I don't use a case on my iPhone), so that's nice. The Choe is small enough that it fits in the center console of my car, so I'm going to wire in a USB charger inside the console (mine doesn't have an armrest lid, makes it easy to drop the phone in) and just run a short 6" USB cable so I can drop the phone in to charger & stream music & calls over Bluetooth. NICE!

I'm going to pick up two TYLT Vu chargers - one for my work desk and one for my bedside table. That way, the phone is angled so I can see the time & lockscreen messages without having to pick it up. Only downside is that it's more expensive at $70 each:

Seriously, where has this been all my life?? Every phone should have this from the factory!!

I actually just bought that exact pad. Seems to be working great so far, with an S3 (one of the aftermarket battery insert jobs) and a Droid Maxx.

I have two. Works great with my Nexus 5.

On my Nexus 4, I had to find a sweet spot in the middle of the phone to get it to charge. On my Nexus5, I have so such issues. It seems to work whereever I place the phone on the pad.

Wait... is that how you pronounce Qi? He keeps saying "chee" which just seems wrong. I would think "key" if anything, but I've always just said "Q-eye" because I didn't know

Qi is pronounced 'chee'.

I picked up a couple of these when they were $20
http://www.amazon.com/PowerBot%C2%AE...dp/B00F6SPYJS/

I find that as long as they're somewhere in the middle third of my Nexus 5, the phone charges fine. I don't have any problems with having to find a precise location, even with a case on the phone. It also makes a beep when the phone starts charging, though I'm still not sure if that's a pro or con.

Just make sure when getting a Qi charger that you have a wall usb adapter. Many of the cheaper chargers only come with a USB cable, and no adapter.

Got my TYLT Vu charger in today, very nice! Fits my iPhone 4S with the Yipin case from Amazon perfectly. Be warned - it is VERY long (almost 8"!). The angle is great though, sits next to my monitor and lets me glance down for lockscreen message alerts.

I do have one bug - my phone kept buzzing twice (which is what happens when you "plug" in an iPhone) like loses the charging signal. It's happened twice so far. It's really weird. My CHOE model hasn't done that.

Aside from that quirk, really my only complaint is the price. My CHOE is $29; the TYLT is $69. That's $40 more for an angled piece of plastic. And it's not like the "place anywhere" thing really matters, since if you don't stick the phone in the middle it won't charge anyway since the stand is iPhone 4S-size. I like the convenience, but for $40, next time I'll probably just get a piece of wood and make an angled bracket for another CHOE, haha.

Edit: Ahah, found some more issue on the glitch:

http://forums.pocketnow.com/discussion/420/tylt-vu-lies-or-scam

It's happened 3 times so far, when my phone was at 89% charged or higher. Maybe I got a defective unit? Weird.

Edit 2: Well, she's dead, Jim. Looks like I got a lemon. I'll return this one & see if the replacement works out better (reviews are good!).
