i currently work in the western suburbs of indianapolis and i grew up and attended college in the northwest part of the state.(purdue) Basically, you have 6-8 cities that have something in them and the rest of it is farm ground and hicks with belt buckles the size of your head. Lafayette, Evansville, Bloomington, Terre Haute, Anderson, Fort Wayne, South Bend, and Indianapolis are the only places with more than 10,000 people. Therefore, there is nothing really to do here without going to those cities.
also, mellencamp concert is in lafayette on friday night, but he is really trashy still

the music isnt bad, but he grew up in seymour, which is crappy from what i have heard/seen and he fits in with that style.
OVERALL, indiana is a good place and very safe and secure. relatively cheap to live here compared to the coasts and so forth, but there is a number of elderly people that you have to deal with. if you are going to live here....pick indianapolis or in the far NW corner by chicago is my advice.
