Have you ever used it to defeat smoking, drinking, weightloss, chronic masturbation? Did it work?

I was able to discontinue the use of Western blood pressure medicine after about 5 months of acupuncture. So far the blood pressure issue hasn't returned.

It has worked for me time and time again for sprained ankles. I don't know about others though.

Western medicine may not be able as scientifically documented as modern-day medical practice, but some treatments do work.

Acupuncture relieved my dad's back and wrist joint inflammation and he only had 1 treatment about 4-5 years ago. As for chronic masturbation, I'm quite sure sticking needles into your wood will curb your thirst to grab hold and jerk... especially if the acupuncturist tells you to leave the needles in

Have you ever had a treatment done?

Sure, it may not be as advanced as Western medicine, and not all treatments are effective, but acupuncture is still very effective in some area. I know for a fact that it has really helped me for sprained ankles, and I have had some really severe ones. I couldn't even lean on my left foot but after the treatment, I was able to walk with a minor limp. I also know some friends with back problems who swear by it.

To make a comment like that is ignorant and asinine.

No, but I've been stabbed. Like all intelligent humans, I endeavour to avoid having sharp objects inserted into my soft squishy body.

You hardly ever hear that with penicillin.

It probably depends on what you are trying to cure...

My chiropractor tried it on me for a separated rib. It did not help.

How do you know they didn't, and just told you it was Benicar?

Well, for a placebo, there sure were some nasty side effects.

Additionally, prior to going to the acupuncturist, I had issues with my liver, namely high SGPT numbers. Had a blood test done before I went in (issue had existed for about a year prior to acupuncture, with monthly blood tests for monitoring) and had a blood test performed after I finished. So far, the SGPT numbers are well within normal range again. So, even if it's a placebo effect, which it may or may not be, it still helped me out.

Tatsumaki Senpuukyaku!

You know, this funny thing happened to me in high school ... my hand got broken in gym class. What do you know, immobilise it and it healed just fine without any needles. Same thing with a knife wound ... it's almost as if the human body has this magical power to heal itself.

;)

Placebo effect works two ways, it's well-documented. Biofeedback is a bitch.

I'm not debating the fact that you got better - it's just whether the needles or your own "inner strength" if you will - made it better.

You don't understand, I couldn't walk at all before the treatment and I was able to walk immediately after the treatment. In fact, the doctor asked me to walk with needles still in me (kind of stung). My swelling went away within a couple of hours.

Yes, I had very bad chronic neck pain to the point I would want to throw up, everyday. After a couple of sessions, the pain stopped. Also, after each session, I felt sooooooo relaxed and it seemed my senses were more active.

Are we talking about acupuncture, or burning a J?

Because I'm pretty sure both of them would have curbed your symptoms. :p

My dad is an acupuncturist, and so i work there alot.

I'll tell you, I used to be a skeptic. But I've seen amazing things in that office. People who could barely walk, walked out with a straight back.

From first hand experiance, it works

No real conclusive science behind it but as long as people claim to be feeling better then that's all that really matters. Just gotta make sure this is only a compliment to actual medical treatment and not an alternative. Same with chiropractors, only a problem if it gets in the way of real medical treatment

I haven't personally. But my friend goes to an M.D that specializes in acupuncture, and she swears by it (she was introduced to this Dr through a pharmaceutical rep as well, who uses her). She's expensive as hell, like $200 a treatment, and that's not including the herbal meds (which costs about $150 for her... this is for weight loss). But being an M.D, she also has a very strong background in western medicine, which helps with understanding concern conditions (such as my friend, who was on a heavy dose of prednisone for years).

If you're in the Boca Raton area and wants to go to her, pm me. Like i said, she's expensive as hell, but she's also a real M.D.

There's lack of 'conclusive' science for A LOT of the meds out there, especially the psychoactive ones.
