i go there for the competition. Graphics is secondary. nothin beats a good competitive game. Playing against A.I. is pretty repetitive. Fight games havn't really went online yet through console, so until then the arcade is the best place for comps.
I think online fighting games are starting to come about. the new mortal kombat has online play. It's just a matter of time before game companies can develop net code fast enough to respond to fighting games. Capcom really missed the boat with SF 2 anniversary collection. I would have loved for that to be online!

SF:AC is going to be online ... but for xbox only :)

I purchased one of these off of Ebay here in anticipation of the fighting games online. i currently have Mortal Kombat Deception and play it on xbox live. while the game is not the best by any means, it is great to actually play it online against real peope instead of the crappy midway AI. i also got that controller in regards SF:AC coming out for xbox live and being able to use it on there. the one i ordered is for ps2, but i have a ps2->xbox controller adapter (and thats actually how that controller works if you order it for xbox from their home site).

also, i built this for my psx/ps2 when I was into the tekkens and fighting games out on psx/ps2. it was awesome at its time (its over 3 years old), but i decided to just buy a prebuilt one that is fit better than the one i built.

the one i ordered shipped yesterday and i cant wait to get it :)

purbeast0 your arcade stick you made looks good :D

I'm a BIG Tekken fan :D

T4 was a bit of a let down to me. Just didn't get in to it as much as T3 or TTT.

I wonder how this plays.

When it has online play that will be worth an extra copy of it for me :D.

Competition is where the game lives and dies imo. Only so much fun you can have with the AI. My mates aren't big in to it like me so it gets boring winning too easily after a while.

hahah i'll even pick combot, to give you an advantage.

Me and my frame counting will destroy all.

btw T5 is gonna have devil Jin as lvl8 boss and Jinpachi as final boss.

I feel ya koing. My friends gets pissed off and refuses to play me cause i am too damn good! lol

Nice homemade sticks beast, but the new T5 cabinets will support PS2 pads, so you can bring your pad to the arcades. I can use both so, doesn't matter to me. If i were to get one, i would go for Hori sticks.

Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution > any 3d fighter (takes awhile to master but its worth it)

Tekken series is ok but i never liked the way it felt for some reason and simply dont like the characters. I'll give T5 a chance though but I think its the inferior namco fighting series (Soul Calibur series is superior).

DOA series is ok and has fantastic visuals.

About the arcade comments..yea.. its beyond sad that arcades in the US are all pretty much dead. Sucks big time. I remember spending countless quarters during the 80's and early 90's at the arcade (used to go to a Nathan's arcade in Yonkers, NY all the time growing up). When arcade games started to cost 50 cents per play I pretty much stopped...especially when 75% of the arcade games were fighting games that I could play at home. I remember seeing games that cost 1 dollar or more (like those arcade machines with those moving hydraulic cars and bikes..etc.) and I just turned away. That is WAY to much to pay to play a game.

I miss the good ol' days of arcades.. :(

man...I'm so ashamed of myself. I've been away from the arcade scene for a few months, and I didn't even know this was coming out :(

Good time to start going again though :D

so is everyone in this thread into fighting games? you really should give a serious look at melty blood react. all reviews i came across are extemrely positive and there is a gigantic thread on it @ shoryuken.com. (arguably) the best fighting game on pc made its way to arcades earlier this year, rumors say its getting ported to dreamcast soon..
tsukihime characters + guilty gear developer + gorgeous gfx/bgm = winnah
