tekken has sucked since tekken 3. it used to be my favorite fighting game (aside from Killer Instinct (although I have MK1 in there right now heh)). however tekken tag and tekken 4 were nothing new at all. the graphics don't seem to be nearly as on par with the newer games as well, and that stupid spark when you hit people still pisses me off!

i saw pics of tekken 5 and it does LOOK good, but if it plays the same then i will skip it pretty much completely. the game just hasn't had anything new, aside from characters, that actually works well, in a long time.

awesome! another game in which I can spend a mere 2 quarters and kill countless number of retards thinking button mashing works.

I guess I'll just stick to Paul Pheonix again... :)

I have seen videos of tekken5 and its awersome.

The changed the fighting system up abit. They made the game alot more combo-heavy.

T5 is described to be a combination of T3+T4.

Just found out D&B in bethesda is not getting it:(

woah i'm in maryland too :p.

however, if its described as t3 + t4, then it will fit the normal new tekken game routine, by not adding in anything new to the gameplay aside from graphics and maybe some gimmicky stuff to get people lured in. if you have played tekken 3, you have played tekken tag, tekken 4, and probably tekken 5. fighting games just aren't what they used to be.

TTT and T3 is the same exact game, TTT was created for the tourny/vs. scene.

T4 is a whole different beast from T3. All the properties of the games changed. Walls, positons changing, etc.

T5, can't say cause its not out yet. But then again the arcade scene in the US is lame. Its impossible to find good players to play with.

the 'upgrades' in t4 were horrible. the walls/hills added to the levels ruined gameplay. you could basically infite combo someone if htey were against a wall, not to mention since the character would still 'look straight' when on a slanted surface, it really ruined the feel of being on a sloped surface. VF4 did it great, but not tekken 4. aside from those 'upgrades' though it was the same thing as t3 with some new characters and more eye candy.

the backgrounds in those t5 videos look breath taking, but aside from that, it just looks like more of the same.

i prefer doa, but i tekken is a close second.

the ghost fighting sounds cool. itd be nice to play against your own style to help learn your weaknesses.

i guess it is true to a certain degree about T4 being broken. I like TTT the best, T4 was decent. Now that they added TTT elements in T5, should be interesting. T5 also allows you to buy a Card that shows ranking, allows for character customizations, and accumalate points for other things. So you know if you are playing a scrub or a pro. Does that count for innovation in a fight game?

no, they've been doing that on xbox live since i purchased MK:D to play on xbox live :p.

also i can't wait for SF:CA to come out for xbox so i can play that on xbox live.

sf2 will forever be up there IMO as the best fighting game ever.

hey i am all about the arcades when it comes to fighting games. I sold my x-box before x-box live was launched so never tried it out.

I did own DOA, VF4, and all the other fighting games, but those games are childplay if you ask me.

Plus nothing beats playing at the arcades with a huge crowd watching you whip peoples ass left and right.

I remember the good old days of SFII turbo!

damn. I wouldn't even know where an arcade is around here these days.

perfect example of the sadness of the US arcade scene.

yea i know, the arcade scene has been dead for years :(. I used to love playing MK1, MK2, KI, and a buncha other fighting games on 50 cents. it was great :).

but the next best thing to that is xbox live. there is trult some good competition out there. however when playing fighting games, i rarely use the headset because generally its just them talking trash to you, which gets very annoying.

I think it speaks more of the quality of console/pc games these days. I used to go to arcades to get blown away by games that you just couldn't play at home. But now, with the quality of games on the Ps2 and Xbox, kids don't have to go to arcades to play games with great graphics, innovation, etc.

i go there for the competition. Graphics is secondary. nothin beats a good competitive game. Playing against A.I. is pretty repetitive. Fight games havn't really went online yet through console, so until then the arcade is the best place for comps.

i am hoping that PS2 will go online with T5 in the future. Nothin on the X-box appeals to me at the moment.

I think online fighting games are starting to come about. the new mortal kombat has online play. It's just a matter of time before game companies can develop net code fast enough to respond to fighting games. Capcom really missed the boat with SF 2 anniversary collection. I would have loved for that to be online!

only if act cadenza makes it to US arcades i would become a frequent arcade visitor... while chances are quite slim, its supposed to come out on dreamcast :D (not that i am missing out much, MBR is good enough as is)
