I finally decided to vote, since when i don't vote on polls, it bugs me, lol 😛

I like the nVidia's 6xxx offerings, but overall, i guess i'd have to say i've been happier with ATi.

So it's a whopping two-vote lead for ATi now! 😀

SLI was out before Crossfire, even if I'm still using AGP. But let's figure it out another way. I'll go by % of satisfaction.

Here's a list of all the VGA cards I've owned with either a "+1" or a "-1":

-1) ATI 7000 PCI - for old 500mhz P3 set-up
-1) GF2 MX - not any better than the 7000
+1) NF1 - onboard GF2 MX - can you say $free.99
+1) ATI 7500 AIW - used to record 70's porn on my HDD, now my "classic collection" will always be with me! DAMN Seika is HOT!
-1) GF4 440 - sucked A$$! - should have kept the 7500 AIW
+1) GF4 4400 ti - faster than my 4600 ti!! - Leadtek ROCKS!
+1) GF4 4600 ti - the 4400 ti was a better OCer - still use in son's computer
-1) GFX 5600 Ultra - what was I thinking? not any faster than a 4200 ti, still sold it to a dumb guy for $200
+1) ATI 9500 Pro - my fravorite ATI - OCed like STUPID CRAZY!
+1) ATI 9800 np - my 9500 pro was $150 cheaper and only a bit slower! - still good
-1) GFX 5900 nu - 4x2 ppl made it suck, but OCing made a bit better
+1) GF6 6800 Ultra - current card - had to buy a 500W PSU, but still love it

4 ATI cards = 3/4 = 75% satisfaction
11 nVidia cards = 7/11 = 63% satisfaction

As much as I hate to say it, ATI wins.

Oops, Sorry about the blank post.

I vote for Matrox. Always loved my Millenium and Millenium 2. I wonder what I ever did with those two cards?

Right now I am a fan of S3 and have started reliving the late 1990's by using a Savage4 and soon the early 2000's with a Savage 2000. When I am finished with this retro thing I will just reinstall my MSI 6600 GT! 🙂

definately on the Nvidia camp

ive been more than impressed this time round, and im glad i took the decision to buy the Leadtek 6800GT for £305 instead of the power color X800Pro for £295, i cant help but feel x800 owners are missing out, not on speed, but on new technology.
ive been able to enjoy new features such as HDR, ive been able to use my favourite drivers (hated ATi drivers every month), the cards been extremely stable and performed better than i could of asked for.

ive had a very good experience with nvidia this round, and im feeling that ill be sending money their way yet again in the future

Man, that was a hard decision. I have a BFG6800GT now and I LOVE it but I had to vote for ATI due to my history. I have owned more ATI's cards than nVidia and for longer, that was the only reason for the vote. I will buy either companies cards depending on the best price/performance at the time.

If I had upgraded my entire system to a socket 939 before this last Christmas I would have waited and bougth a X800XL but since I am using AGP the 6800GT won the day

I consider myself to be more "wishy-washy" on the subject than a fanboy, but I like ATi more after all of my experiences between the two.

A lot of how I feel about either camp is derived from first impressions with video cards which I have forgived, but can't forget. For example, my GeForce 2 MX had the worst color I have ever seen. I don't blame nVidia for that, and I do still buy nVidia (running a 6800GT right now), but I can't get over the gut feeling of high speed with lackluster color and overall image quality. My first Radeon, (AIW 32MB), blew me away with quality visuals after that GeForce 2, but the drivers back then absolutely sucked. I never got that AIW to work completely correctly. I spent days of my life playing drivers both official and modded trying to get that thing to work.

But then again, during the lifespan of my Radeon 8500, the overall performance of that card went up drasticly due to all of the improved drivers that ATi was putting out. I was also very happy with my Radeon 9800NP. I never really had any problems with it at all, of any kind. But I haven't had any problems with my 6800GT either, so /shrug.

Either way, I buy whatever card/brand has the best bang for the buck at the time I need it. I would never buy a lower performing or feature lacking card out of brand loyalty.

Nvidia for me, but I had to pop in a PCI Voodoo 4 4500 into my A8N-E last night because it was the only working video card I had that wasn't AGP.
