Do bad teeth turn you off? To the point of not wanting to speak with people that have less-than-perfect teeth? Got any general thoughts about it?

When someone with bad teeth smiles at you, do you even pay attention to their grill or are you more focused on the fact that they are smiling?

I should have gotten braces when I was younger although I'm sure no one else thinks it is as major as I do - one of those personal self-confidence image issues which we all have in some form or another. However I'm going to be 30 this year! Maybe I should just live out my life with this grill. All thoughts, opinions & flames greatly appreciated.

I like people with nice teeth, but it's not big deal unless they are all missing. Mine aren't that great. I could use some braces.

Bad teeth kind of gross me out... On a guy - who cares... ?
On a girl - Do I want to kiss that ? haha :)

My girlfriend has really nice teeth... I love it... :)

I however, fell when I was a child and broke off my front teeth... so they dont look perfect at all... :(

Now there is a difference in "bad" teeth and "nasty" teeth. I am grossed out by teeth were it's obvious the person doesn't own a tooth brush. Simply crooked teeth don't really bother me...hey it's what god gave ya. I focus more on personality in the later case, but don't really bother starting a conversation with "nasty" teeth people.

HUGE TURNOFF. A good looking mouth is a must - luckily my teeth came in straight from the getgo, but I didn't practice good brushing habits when I was a kid, so my back molars have silver fillings. Since I was a teen, it's been like my biggest pet peeve - I brush them as much as possible, and have bleached them.

I get compliments all the time though ;) My next task is to try and get the silver fillings replaced wiht white ones :)

My teeth are straight--never had braces--but they're a little weird: large canines, but the teeth next to the canines are a little smaller than normal. I figure there are worse traits one could have.

hehe, if it makes you feel better someone once told me I had anime teeth...what ever that means

Edit: I think they were referring to the fact that my canines tilt slightly forward...other that that my teeth are pretty straight for never attempting to straighten them.

As long as its nothing ridiculous (missing teeth, teeth at 45 degree angles, etc), I could care less.

Much more important that she brushes.

I wouldn't go for a girl with a crooked set of teeth nor yellow ones either.

When it comes to guys I never look at their teeth or make it a point to. If they are absolutely horrendous like a brit's then I will not want to talk with them of course...would anyone?

teeth and a nice smile are very important to me. it shows that that person takes care of themselves. there is no reason to not have even "ok" teeth.
Your smile and teeth are the first thing soemone is going to notice.

Pics? :p

I know how you guys love pics, but then again I also know how critical you guys are on looks and I'm sensitive  so you'll have to stay in suspense for now. Maybe one day when the flame fest has died down I'll post a pic. Ask Scarpozzi, he knows me.

Edit: Oh yeah, I'll have to wait for a time that posting a pic of myself won't label me an attention whore... I really don't like that phrase.

hey to add to the topic, what was the worst experience involving teeth that you remember.

I'll start, but only if you people are interested. I don't want to make anyone squirm.

My teeth aren't perfect. Never needed braces, but I have a few fillings and they're not as white as they could be. When I was little, I didn't practice good brushing habits, but I'm working on that.
I don't mind bad teeth on others. I seem to notice it more on females and if they're really bad, it's a turn-off.

However, bad breath and bad body odor bother me way more than bad teeth.

Oddly, I have extra bones in the roof of my mouth. Whenever I visit a new dentist they tell me that I have a strong mouth because of the extra bones.

i had a skiing accident in 1985 that busted out some of my teeth. had to have a root canal on one right away and since then had 2 more root canals. a couple years ago the crowns all wore our and i had to get a 5 tooth bridge across the front. the bridge is doing pretty good now.

i need to get some overlays on my back molars to replace old worn out silver fillings from when i was a kid. i need to do that this summer, my back lower left molars are very sensitive to cold/pressure until i get that overlay done

I don't remember exactly how old i was, but it was the stage of losing baby teeth. My adult canines were coming in, the only problem was the baby canines weren't falling out. When the adult canines were pretty much all the way in and the babys were still there my step-dad took it upon himself to remedy the situation without involving a dentist. One day while my mom was at work he pinned me down on the couch, a knee on each of my elbows so i couldn't move. He then proceeded to grab a pair of pliers and twisted/pulled out the baby teeth. As you can imagine since they weren't loose, it hurt ALOT. I think it took over well over ten minutes of him twisting and yanking on them before they came out. Needless to say I was screaming the whole time and never let him near my mouth again.

jesus. I thought that when my teeth were sensitive to cold that it was bad. (not sensitive anymore, it was just the filling).

 for the suffering you went through.

I wonder if this is a regional thing? Isn't the 'stereotype' that UKers have poor/bad teeth, and USAians are obsessed with good teeth?
