Teeth Braces- Invisalign vs. iBraces

There has been several talks on here about Invisalign, but has anyone tried iBraces?

It's braces that go behind your teeth. Only thing is that not a lot of doctors in my area that offer it.

Still hoping to get my teeth fixed next year, but now I see another treatment option.

How come you don't want to opt for Invisalign?

I haven't decided. I just heard about iBraces today, they look interesting. When it comes to invisalign I worry on how they look when you use them, how you talk, do they bother at all. I keep thinking of those Crest whitestrips that are really annoying and can't really do anything when them on.

I would really like to see a person that wears invisalign to see if they are noticeable or not.

Something tells me he doesn't have anything to worry about. 😛

it's like a clear mouthguard only thinner than one you'd wear for sports. i don't think it's all that noticeable, and the best part is you can remove them when you eat - something you cannot do with conventional metal braces.

i knew a chick who was using them and i wasn't even aware of it until i saw her pop one of them in her mouth one day.

I got my invisalign done, the one in my mouth is the retainer tray.. slightly thicker than the one you wear every 2 weeks.. i had 1 tooth that was crowding and it took 7 month for the whole process. the ibraces looks like its painful..

invisialign is just as painful,

every 2 weeks you go in and they shave spaces in between the teeth for the tray to fit and force the position you need. Sometims it takes a bit longer to grind down the teeth or if the guy slips.. its cutting ur gum.

the first 2 days, the trays are painful but you get use to it fast.. great diet plan...

it is pricy, i paid nyc price of 4500 for just the bottom... probably with the top it's slightly more but not double like 8000..

My teeth - large pic

edit: the final retainer tray is included with the cost and you do need to wear that daily.. they told me just nights only but i just wear it through out the day to prevent the teeth from moving too much.

the retainer is around 200 if you lose it.. i lost mine once.. took them 2 days to fedex it out to me.. not bad..

Yeah, the grinding did suck. Especially if you have sensitive teeth.

Huh what...shave and grind that sounds painful and every two weeks for the entire process?

I think I would only need my top teeth fix, but $4500 for just one set crap that expensive, I thought they did both bottom and top.

Can you talk ok with the normal invisalign and the retainer... like no mumbleling or something?

It cost me $4500 for both the top and the bottom combined. You will want to shop around and find the best price/orthodontist. The first aligner I ever put in, I was mumbling for the first few days, and my teeth hurt like hell. Once your teeth get used to moving, it gets a lot easier to deal with. After the first few aligners, I wasn't slurring words, and it didn't hurt to put the new aligners in. I didn't have to go through the grinding every visit, although you will have to deal with it multiple times most likely.

I was going to recommend OrthoClear (similar to Invisalign, but cheaper). But it looks like OrthoClear just got bought out by Invisalign on Sept. 28th. 🙁

Do they allow you to try a pair first and see if can deal with them or buy up front and deal with it.

nope.. they show you.. its custom to your teeth, so there isn't anything to try on..

my wife was told that even after ivisiline she would need to wear braces to fix her overbite. So she is just going to do braces.

invisalign is only for the easier cases. it sounds like it isn't even an option for your wife.

My insurance cover nothing to do with braces unless its a family plan and its for kids.

Yea. I'm going to have to pay for my braces myself too.
