They seriously need to beat the crap out of these murderers and put them in prison for life. I hope they fail at moving the case to a juvenile court. Juvenile court is understandable for some crimes but most people are well aware of their actions at age 17, especially if it has anything to do with ending someone's life.

PORT CARBON, Pennsylvania (AP) -- Three white teens were charged Friday in what officials said was an epithet-filled fatal beating of an illegal Mexican immigrant in a small northeast Pennsylvania coal town.

Brandon J. Piekarsky, 16, and Colin J. Walsh, 17, were charged as adults with homicide and ethnic intimidation in the July 12 attack on Luis Ramirez.

A third teen, Derrick M. Donchak, 18, was charged with aggravated assault, ethnic intimidation and other offenses. All are from Shenandoah, where the attack occurred.

Ramirez, 25, was beaten to death after an argument with a group of youths that police said included high school football players. Authorities could not immediately say if any of the suspects were members of the team, but they confirmed that all three used ethnic slurs during the fight.

"As a result of this crime, a young man has lost his life. Many other lives have been devastated, and the borough of Shenandoah has been filled with tensions between many ethnic groups," Schuylkill County District Attorney James Goodman said.

"Now that the criminal charges have been filed, we must let this case be handled in the criminal justice system," he said.

Police said as many as six teens were involved in the fight, which ended with Ramirez in convulsions and foaming at the mouth. He died July 14 of head injuries.

Crystal Dillman, the victim's 24-year-old fiancee, who is white and grew up in Shenandoah, has said Ramirez was often called derogatory names, including "dirty Mexican," and told to return to his homeland.

"I plan on moving out of this town as fast as I can. Not because I'm scared. I just don't want to see my children have to deal with what their father dealt with," Dillman said.

Piekarsky and Walsh were being held without bail, while Donchak was held on $75,000 bail.

Lawyers for Piekarsky and Walsh said their clients were not guilty and that there was no evidence to support the homicide charges. They also said they would try to have the case removed to juvenile court.

Donchak declined comment.

But even with that what they did made them more criminals then what this illegal immigrant ever did in the eyes of the law. And I agree this should be for adult court.
 
They need to bring back hard labor for violent crime.

Why is the 18 year old only getting aggravated assault? They murdered this guy. Unless there's somehow more to the story, but I don't know what you could add to a group of people beating a single person so badly they died. It's unfortunate that they also insulted him racially I guess but again I don't see how that makes this murder any worse than if it was a white guy with children and a fiance. I don't know why the police are dicking around with ethnic intimidation charges and other nonsense, where are the murder charges?

Could be the other guy just drove, watched, etc...??

Also you charge someone with as many charges as you can. What if you charge with only the death and a jury lets him free becsue he was an an illegal. Also when/if they make a deal then the more charges there are the higher the years in jail will be even with a deal.
 
Marlin I guess that makes sense, I just don't get the lack of murder charges. They beat him up, and he died. That doesn't seem like just homicide to me.

They can go back and admend the charges. The charges they have now might have been filed when he was still alive. They, DA, has to wait for the medical reports that say 100% that the beating was the cause of his death and not soem heart problem etc... that he had before.
 
At the age of 16 if you don't know that beating someone til they are dead is murder, you should just be killed anyway because you are a moron and will never amount to anything.

IMHO they should extradite the kids over to Mexico for a trial, since technically the murdered man was a Mexican. The Mexican court would not give them the death penalty and they would get to serve their times in a luxurious Mexican prison.

Sadly, this story barely scratches the surface of what I'm sure is a much more in depth tale. It seems the fiancee may have had children with the deceased. No telling what that did to stir the racial tensions of the accused. We don't know anything of what the deceased put up with before the murder, except what the fiancee tells the reporter. Really, that's a piece of journalistic fluff, with little substance. :roll:

There may be a huge difference in terms of immigration but no difference in terms of humanity and should be no difference as far as law goes.

I think there is more to this story than we are aware of. He was an illegal alien with a white gal. I have a funny feeling she might have known one of the attackers at some point intimately, which is why she is now so hot to get out of town. Not that this justifies the attack/killing at all, it just makes more sense than a random senseless killing like it is being portrayed.

Personally I think that the government here shouldn't do anything to them.

They should be dumped on a street corner in Tijuana chained to a sign that says what they did. Problem solved.

Seems I recently saw an article about a dad defending his 12 year old daughter and getting a serious beating by a group of people. Somehow in that case, they felt the need to omit any racial description of the attackers.

Living in Kahleeforneeya, we have lots and lots of crimes atributed to illegal immigrants. Murder, narcotics, crank labe, etc. PLUS, there are always stories in the local paper about deadly car accidents involving illegal immigrant drivers who are drunk, unlicensed, and uninsured. (yes, I know that they're unlicensed and uninsured because the law prohibits them from being licensed.)

As with nearly all articles in American news media, there is nowhere near enough information for anyone to form a good opinion on the matter..

There was an argument first.. who started it? The article doesn't say who the instigator was.. How did the fight start?

I can imagine both sides as doing something wrong.. nothing worthy of death - but death sometimes happens in no-rules fights..

In cases where the perpetrator is Asian, they also include the ethnicity and sometimes cultural history and family immigration background. Take the Virginia Tech shooter for example. link

Because they are also charged with ethnic intimidation and it makes sense to include the ethnicity of the suspects.
