Teenagers and their phones

So I have a cell phone plan that I put my teenage brother on (parents didn't want to because they have a plan with very low minutes) and all has been well for several months. Plan calls for 700 peak minutes. Recently, he's got a GF, and the usage has skyrocketed.

Last month's usage was 3000 minutes (only 750 minutes peak, so we were only over 90 minutes because I only used 40).

10 days into the billing cycle he's already used 500 peak minutes, and has spent 1500 minutes total on the phone. Looks like he'll be sticking to nights and weekends from now on.

It's no big deal because he pays for the overage, but damn that's a lot of minutes. So far he's averaging over 2 hours on the phone per day! When I've been in relationships, I didn't even come close to that amount. Guess it's all about being a teenager.

Hmm... At least they're not texting. Texting without a plan is expensive...

Are either yours or the gf's plan coming to an end soon? Maybe you guys can get on a carrier that allows free internal minutes (if they're serious enough to justify the effort).

I just looked on the phone I've had for a year and a half. Total talk time is 7,047 minutes and 15 seconds...

Oh I didn't even want to get into texting. He added on a plan for 500 msgs for $5/months, and blew through that last billing period. Wound up sending ~800 txt msgs, and at 10c/msg over, that was an extra $30 he shelled out.

a friend of mine has a sister who was texting without a plan. hundreds of them....thousands...at least 40 a day...when it was all said and done the overages were like more than $400 for the texts...and she was 13 years old. do you realize how much $400 is in kid money? ouch.

He looks adopted or like an illegitimate child. My sister and I both have dark olive complexions and dark hair (like my father) while he's pastey white with freckles and red-brown hair, more like my mother.

As for getting mixed up, that'd be hard because there is an 8 year age difference 😉 If he is a she, I guess he/she is a lesbian!

I used to use a sh!tload of phone time back in early high school. That started declining as AIM jsut got more and more convenient and cell phones started coming in. It's kinda sad that it's hard to have long conversations now and I have to wait till N&W to talk.

I'd say close to 20 lashes and about 6 hours a day of manual labor for a month. 😛
