Who would have a thought a law that essentially gives a free pass for shooting someone would turn out to be a bad idea.
You can shoot anyone you like, just claim they said something that you considered a threat. Oh, and make sure you shoot a minority, otherwise this will fall apart.

The killing of Davis was not decided. In fact in a way it was decided justified as the jury couldn't unanimously decide.

So far the only thing he is guilty of is the volley on the car. Killing Davis was entirely justified. If he didn't fire those 3 shots, he would have been good.

I don't understand all the argument over why this is or isn't stand your ground. Stand your ground is a clause in self defense that asserts a lack of duty to retreat. The question of Dunn's duty to retreat was never brought up by the defense or prosecution. If this weren't a state with stand your ground laws the trial would have almost certainly included question of whether or not fleeing was possible and the safer and more reasonable choice. Dunn would have had to clear a higher bar. So again, how is SYG not relevant here?
