*Update* If a mod would like to move this to P&N, please by all means do so. I didn't intend for this thread to become quite so political.

I think the prosecutor and police chief should be charged with criminal negligence for failing to prosecute those boys. Everyone of those bastards should have been dragged into court and forced to hire a lawyer - lack of evidence? What the hell. No better yet, what the f**k?! Unbelievable.

Sad story. All you can hope is that your child learns how to recognize a bad situation as quickly as possibly and to react accordingly.

I think parents and teachers should be educating their daughters that these parties are nothing more than boys trying to get into their pants and that date rape is a real possibility especially if drinking or drugs are involved. Teen girls need to stop going to these parties or at least leave if any booze or drugs are introduced.

You notice how one of the girls left?

So, that is definitely a sad story. However, where is the rape and bullying? From what I read, nothing was proven and everyone accused, exonerated. From what I read, it's all one-sided.

Not saying it didn't happen. The story just says, "[her] mom said" too much.

Again, before people start freaking out...this is a sad story. I just don't see it as portrayed in the title.

Why is it always rape when both genders are equally drunk? Not trolling, but from what I read, she wasn't upset until the photos and bullying got out into public.

I'm assuming that the lack of evidence is that a single picture showing a girl with her head outside a window while having sex doesn't necessarily mean rape.

It's rape if you don't give consent. If you're too drunk and don't know what's going on and can't give consent then it's still rape. Doesn't matter how drunk the other person is.

Why aren't Americans out on the street protesting this abhorrent rape? What are they going to do about the rape culture of the West?

Didn't prosecute the rapists? Must be those "values" we hear of so often from the west. 🙄

Wonder how that rag NY Times will cover this story? Like the Steubenville gang-rape I guess.

Funny that the western media jumped in to lambaste India and lampoon all Indian men regarding the gang rape that occurred in Delhi last December. Silly untouchables; the rape culture of the west is incomparably higher and more sickening than anywhere else; especially India's.

Some statistics for you:

http://www.nationmaster.com/compare/India/United-States/Crime

Number of rapes in India per 100,000 people: 1.7
Number of rapes in USA per 100,000 people: 30.2

Doing some basic arithmetic, that's more than 17 times the number of rapes in India!! To those who would say, "Well, rapes in India are not "reported" as much as the US", they are under-reported in the US as well. In fact, it is statistically impossible to bridge a 17x gap based on "under-reporting".

And, India has more than 1.2 BILLION people; more than FOUR TIMES the population of the US and that too in 1/3rd the area.

Must be those "first-world values" at play! 🙄

What else can you expect from corpse-worshiping untouchables?

An angry indian person appears

Girl should not have been drinking at 15 or going to parties where alcohol is consumed. The police investigated and found no evidence of rape.According to her mother kids bullied her at school and she killed herself. Sad and disturbing story.

I miss the good ol days. You know, when if a kid was bullied at school, their dad went to the bully's house and "handled" it.

If my son or daughter is/are ever bullied, that is how I plan to deal with it. I'm not going to wait until someone else decides to give a crap.

That said, I don't think anything could have stopped this kid from committing suicide. She was brutally raped, and 2 YEARS later took her own life. Even if her attackers suffered capital punishment, nothing was going to draw her out of that spiral. Not if two years of coping and support didn't.

Yeah thanks for clarifying that. It doesn't have to be violent in order to be considered rape.

Yep. Given that she committed suicide I am thinking that the bullying was a little more important than the "rape". Especially given she apparently can't even remember that.

Did the boys give her consent to have sex with them? How come it can't go both ways? Also, why didn't she say anything about it until the photo came out?
