As I said in another thread, when the demonizes see themselves coming they start to shit bricks. They know instinctively where hate leads which makes them only too happy to express it but to be terrified of being the target of it. They went through all of that in childhood, as we all did. The white male perpetrators of hate in our society are going to find themselves in need of a White Martin Luther King because we create what we fear.
 
Wasn't the motor city mad man the same guy during the campaign that stood up representing conservatives by holding his man sack in front of the camera? This is the very thing that should be screaming to critically thinking people that something is very wrong here.
 
Conservative folks have been creating militias, shooting up abortion clinics and churches, and taking over government facilities for a very long time and it just seems like normal right wing crap anymore. We don't even blink when some idiot is hurling insults and beating on "ragheads" in the street. Same ole same ole.

But here we have what appears a lone crazy democrat with guns exhibiting the same behavior. This reinforces my view that the two parties are changing positions on some issues and more mainstream Democrats are going to adopt more violent tactics going forward. And then we see Ted taking a socialist approach "gee can't we all be friends?"

This kind of violence has been going on for years, and now teapublicans are acting like some monumental shift has happened and liberals and minorities just might be onto something.

It's nice to see people like Nugent finally extract their heads from their rectums and act like rational human beings. Better late than never I suppose. So yay, the draft dodging, one hit wonder pederast who has a history of threats and encouragement of violence is changing his tune.

Whoopty shit. Someone let me know when he stops supporting assholes for office.
 
Can't help but be cynical given Nugent's less-than-civil conservatism in the past.

At the same time, this underscores a point: it seems like too many modern conservatives (both inside and outside of office) do heinous things simply because they don't feel there will be any serious consequences for their actions. The GOP can try to steal health care from 23 million people because many of their representatives won't even risk losing office, let alone lose health care themselves. Show hosts and other celebrities can screech about all Muslims being evil, or float junk conspiracy theories, because their host networks will protect them -- they'll only be fired if the ad money goes away.

I'm not advocating violence by any means, but the ballpark shooting was a harsh reminder that horrible policies and horrible rhetoric don't exist in a bubble.

Of course all the degenerates are going to latch onto the one Sanders supporter who did this and use it to smear the entire crowd, but it'll be like showering in Teflon when someone points out how completely insanely violent dozens or hundreds of Drumpf's orange gestapo are...Christ.

I'm deeply concerned that someone's going to take Alex Jones at his word that it's the first shots of the second civil war and go killing, but luckily in other news it looks like the "patriot" groups like the oath keepers and alt right are busy falling out because the former can't stand the latter's overt racism. Hopefully the infighting takes most of their attention.
 
As fun as it may be to make fun of a late-comer to a more civilized reality, I think we should keep in mind that his former methodology was wrong and the one he suggests now is a vast improvement. People can and do change. This present case may or may not be totally sincere, we will have to see with the passage of more time, but it often happens, I think, that in a sick culture like ours, so dismissive of empathetic feelings, dare we say feminine-side feelings, where manhood and the cowboy mentality are worship and emulated by every insecure male, the age of 69 is well into a period of life where ones worship of manhood starts to fail. It's tough to be tough when you're beginning to feel frail and death isn't so far away.

The point I would stress then, is that there are better and worse emotional states. Some attitudes bring happiness to oneself and others, and some bring misery. I think this guy may have an improved outlook. I don't think it a good idea to run down people who move up because the were blind before. Few have no improvements to make in their emotional lives.
