Ted Cruz says I'm an American Citizen

Turns out that I'm an American citizen, same as Ted Cruz. He was born in Calgary, Alberta. I was born in Ontario. His mother is an American citizen by birth. My mother is an American citizen by birth. He says this makes him a natural-born citizen. So, that makes me also a natural-born citizen.

By virtue of this, I have just as much eligibility to be President of the United States as Ted Cruz does. Er, well, I would, if I were 35 and lived in the US for 14 years.

But I'm still a citizen!

I bet if you replaced Calgary, Alberta with Mexico City - but, kept everything else the same - Ted would not consider that person a natural-born citizen.

He's a secret Maple from Calgary!

He's a-gonna grab our footballs and replace 'em with hockey sticks!

He doesn't really love 'merica!

etc. etc. etc. etc. and more etc.

I'd vote for you.

Is Ted Cruze a conservative? I don't follow politics very closely. Let's assume he's conservative. OP is from Canada. He's posting on a tech forum. Odds are in favor of him being liberal. Because his post has a kind of facetious tone to it, I'm going to assume that this is a case of a liberal person seeking out and commenting on stupid things that conservatives say, while ignoring equally stupid things that someone they should like probably said at around the same time. In other words, there's a fair chance there's some confirmation biasing going on here.

New rule: If you mention something you think puts whichever political party you think is "the enemy" in a bad light, you must first dig up a recent comment by a member of your own party that also puts them in a bad light. If you can't find ANYTHING bad to post about your own party, that should tell you something about yourself. People of all walks of life are saying stupid things all the time. Democrats are just as susceptible to this as republicans, as are libertarians and whoever else. There's definitely a quote or topic out there for you to post. If you can't find anything, that means that your personal bias is coloring everything you see, hear, and read by them to the extent that you can't be objective. If you aren't able to be objective on this subject, you need to stop posting about it.

He is an American Citizen you dolt.

He is NOT a natural-born citizen. Thread title is retarded if you're trying to indicate he isn't a citizen.

Not defending the dumbass, but at least make a half-ass reasonable thread.

Law says Cruz is a natural-born American and is eligible to run for President.

So is he eligible? The vast majority of legal thought and arguments indicate he is.

Isn't this the same horseshit the retardicans and dumbfucks like Donald Trump were spewing about Obama?

Not really. Those particular morons were arguing that Obama wasn't born in the US despite the overwhelming evidence he was.

There is no question where Cruz was born, I don't believe anyone is calling doubt about where his mom was born. These people believe (erroneously, based on 200 years of case law apparently) that being born in Canada means he is not a natural born citizen.

IMO the latter is a bit less idiotic. At face value being born in Canada would seem to mean you are not a natural born citizen but that isn't true. Insisting he still can't run even after learning that fact is equally moronic though.

There is zero question. And it is already official that he is a citizen. He did have to renounce his Canadian citizenship.

So the OP puts this political thread in OP and yesterday's bieber thread in P&N? And doesn't take the time to spend 15 seconds on Google to find out the difference between him and Cruz.

While I'm not a Cruze fan or supporter. I really wish the language could be clarified.

Hey now, his last name is Cruz not Cruze.

Giving that guy the same last name as a compact car from Chevrolet is an insult to a perfectly good American automobile.

Oh, what am I saying. That damn car has had about a dozen recalls on it over the past two years. It deserves the insults.
