From watching the Repub primaries back in '16, I came to the conclusion that it was the most loudest and prodigious bullshitter (Trump) that kept hitting on all of the emotionally driven lies, accusations and misinformation about the other Repub contenders and topped it off with making absurd promises that appealed to the nation's racists, religious fundies, nativists and supremacists. Those other Repub candidates couldn't handle the rapid fire lies and ridicule that Trump was firing off at them. Cruz played his own version of that game but paled in comparison to what Trump was doing to him.
