A lot of people back in the Napster days didn't even give any thought to the fact that they were violating copyright laws. True ignorance is no excuse, I just don't believe that there was any malice involved like there is now. Back then would have been the perfect time for the RIAA to embrace the technology instead of alienating it's customers. For them trying to hang on to their outdated business model is a losing battle which will cost them dearly

The RIAA has this problem because they don't know sh!t about business. Why is it that i can buy the DVD for less than the soundtrack CD? The RIAA wonders why we don't pay $15 for a 15 track CD with only 1 or 2 good tracks and 13 sh!ty songs. If they knew anything about current mentality, of teenagers, they would drop their prices in half or a third. Current CDs cost ~$15 if they were ~$5-7.50 i quarenty they would sell much more and make a larger profit. Most people see the $15 price tag and say f this and dl it from kazaa.
Anyone notice that the movie industry doesn't have this problem and why? DVDs hold tons more info and come with hours of special features and can cost less than the CD soundtrack. Moreover, when DVDs first came out they were expensive, but eventually they went down in prices (even lower than VHS--when VHS was the standard) and ever since more and more people have been buying movies. I have 290 movies in my collection and it keeps going, but do you think it would be that high if i was charger $30-$40 per DVD? HE!! NO. I do it because i buy at $10-$15 (LESS than most music CDs).
OMG movie industry learned that 1million at $25 = $25million and 10million at $10 = $100million but music industry is just too fing stupid to understand that concept so f them untill they lower their prices and stop dishing out half-@ssed CDs with 1 or two good tracks out of 15.

You can't prove me wrong, because the music industry NEVER lowers their prices. Moreover, how many people that read this have a DVD?

Not necessarily, I just pulled out two of my favorite cds, one is on epitaph, one is on sound one dummy. Neither one is on the list.

Are they bands everyone has heard of or no name local bands?

As I said in another thread - the RIAA's tactics are currently such that they're closely modeling the firing of a 12 gauge shotgun into a crowd at a school. They need to grow some balls and go where the big boys play - IRC. Unfortunately for them, that'd be the rough equivalent of taking their 12 gauge into an NRA heavy weapons shoot and starting to shoot at people.

I'd be the first person to volunteer my machines to a DDoS net.
