TechSpot and LegionHardware make up their benchmarking numbers!

TechSpot and LegionHardware's two reviews listed below are written by the exact same author. That by itself is not a problem. However, the following things also happened:

1. The author swapped the 8800GTS and 2900XT results. The author swapped 8800GT and 8800GTX results in certain cases. All "mistakes" are in NVIDIA's favor.
2. The OS is different across the review websites (Vista vs WindowsXP).

There is obvious bias going on. We need to get the word out!

Does anyone notice some similarities in the numbers between the two?

Obviously there's something shady going on. Consider the 2900XT and 8800GTS scores. They are SWITCHED in the Techspot review such that the 8800GTS performs better than the 2900XT. So which one is right? Usually the 2900XT performs better than the 8800GTS in U3 engine games, so I would suspect that the 2900XT is the higher one for this game.

Look at the other graphs too. This isn't the only page with similarities.

Bioshock:
Problem: 8800GT and 2900XT results are swapped, in NVIDIA's favor. OS is incorrect.

World in Conflict:

Supreme Commander:

Everyone, please spread the word!

Well, I checked both of those sites that you linked too (although not in right syntax) and they both match now so what gives? I mean the evidence is their that shows it was changed :S

No, that's not right. They did "fix" the numbers, but they didn't take into account that Vista 64bit and XP 32bit give different FPS results. Still bogus.

ok i really don't see much here...just graphs that don't prove anything to me.

I'm not going to lie, the Nvidia cards are generally faster than the 2900xt even though I own a 2900.

they are either incompetent or nvidia fanboys. nvidia doesn't need any help, their performance is superior without any assistance. they switched 8800gts and 2900xt numbers in one of the benchmarks for one thing.

Jesus christ, finish reading the post before typing something.

1. The LegionHardware and the TechSpot reviews have the EXACT SAME NUMBERS. Take them and compare to see. This would normally make sense (it's the same reviewer), but the reviews were supposedly done on DIFFERENT OPERATING SYSTEMS. Different operating systems yield different numbers.

2. I'm not saying I don't believe 8800GT is faster than 3870. 8800GT is obviously faster than the 3870. The point is the LegionHardware and TechSpot are horrible review sites.

I think the main problem is Anandtech's horrible message board system (no pictures???)

Here's the original link, with pictures embedded, so you can actually compare them and see.

You're not reading. Look again at the benchmark configurations. 2xAA and 0xAA yield the same numbers? Vista and XP yield the same numbers, down to the last digit? 8800GT is faster than 8800GTX (swapped numbers)?

Though I do not have the time to look into this, based on what you are saying, I agree that something is bogus. There is no way those numbers would be the same between XP and Vista. They would be, at the very least, a few FPS off.

I thought something was off when I read legion's review considering it was so down on Ati compared to everyone else's, I am no fanboy, I last used a 7800 GT and have used both cards, but I believe in fair and accurate reporting.

Finally someone gets it 😀

It's not about denial that 8800GT > 3870 or whatever. It's about fair and accurate reporting, which TechSpot and LegionHardware have clearly failed to do.

Not nvidia fanboys... just horrible sites... They swap product numbers all across and mess things up. Inconsistently reporting different results for the same cards (ie, swapping a GTS and GTX from test 3 on site A and site B)... This kind of sloppyness isn't indicative of company partanism so much as just being crappy review sites.

Also, this is IDENTICAL to a thread you made 3 days ago and died off... I remember arguing some points with you in it... now the whole thread is forgotten and you made a new one to argue the same point?
