I am in pre production of a film I will be shooting in the coming months, but I need some more songs for the soundtrack. Due to the nature of it, I will need mostly techno songs. I just started listening to techno more often, so all I know are the more popular artists (Chemical Brothers, Crystal Method, Meat Beat Manifesto, Aphex Twin etc).
Anyways, I need some good songs for my film. I am not looking for any particular mood of song per se...I will just know what I like when I hear it ;)

Anyways, please post some of your favorite techno artists/songs (preferably more underground ones..although it doesnt really matter, i just like supporting the little guys :))

Thanks!

Try MP3.com, they have a vast selection of 'little guys' to choose from. And I'm sure that if you asked the artists (and let them know it was for a movie), they would be willing to help you out with custom songs for your soundtrack. Hey, they are looking for publicity too.

It would help further if you listed the tracks you plan on using currently. When you say techno, there are a lot of various genres out now. 10 years ago, you mention the word techno and it would be understood. Now, you've got everything from trance to drum n bass to jungle to psychedelic trance to house. If you're interested let me know and I can send you a winamp playlist of titles.

Are you looking for songs with gradual buildups, short and fast? The more info you can provide, the better you can be helped.

BTW, radiocore's recommendations are good trance artists.

krispy kremer- I wish I could be more specific about what I want..but I cant :(
Like I said, I will know what I want when I hear it, I would appreciate the playlist though.
email my at guev@speakeasy.net

thanks for the help everyone, keep it coming! :)

edit: the only thing it cannot have is a long buildup, but other then that it is pretty up in the air

Try some thunderdome, he has some badass megamixes and a song I like called "Kick it"). Bad boy bill is pretty good too. Another great song by Darude is "Feel the beat" I actually like it more than Sandstorm.
Lets see, DJ Caffeine, DJ Quicksilver and DJ Irene are good too, and you cant forget Prodigy, Moby, and Fatboy slim.
Basically It all depends on what you are really looking for, like Krispy Kremer said, techno has changed a lot.
Good luck with the movie.

gUEv, YGM
hope the playlists help

between working at a music store in college and being in the rave scene mainly between 90-92 in la when it kicked off in the states brings back some memories :)

good call on ap - if you go the psy-trance route, be sure to check out Hallucinogen and Growling Mad Scientists. GMS have got a mean wicked track with Matrix samples

if you're looking for some stuff with low end bass that's not beats but just a WALL OF SOUND, check out aphrodite.

I'm going to see Paul Oakenfold tonight.. just had to throw that in :D

And Trance Control isn't bad either, though the stuff is usually shorter than most.

Ooh, actually, if you seem to like the Prodigy, Crystal Method type of Techno, I HIGHLY recommend Fluke.
