Was out fishing and paddling today with the wife and some friends. I hopped off to fish for awhile but it was a tad deeper than I expected. Normally I can plop my butt down in the seat when I get into it from a higher position, but getting back in when your in 4+ feet of water is a bit more difficult.

I ended up hopping up, pulling, and sprawling across the whole kayak, eventually sliding myself into position, but I ended up with a massive charlie horse and a cramped tricep, took a few minutes to go away.

There has to be an easier way, any ideas?

my aunt has a sit on top down at the family pond, and i got in it for the first time the other day (my first time in a kayak ever)

after about 5 minutes, i also fell in...and scrambled back on top probably much like you did, but i didnt get cramped up doing it. be nice to know if theres a better way than scrambling though. i made damn sure not to fall in again after that :-/

nifty technique for laying on the paddle, but my fat, clumsy ass will never manage that in a thousand years.
