Sorry, just really need help quickly.

Here is the email that I received...not sure what to make of it:

"Something happened to my computer yesterday. I was typing and the screen went to all colors flashing. It would not shut down, so I had to turn it off. It would not restart until the 4th time I tried. Now, my screen colors are only black, white, red and yellow. No other colors. I have tried to change them on control pannel, but it will not let me. What do you suggest? "

The computer is running Win98 and AVG Antivirus from Grisoft. It is one of 3 computers on a network. It is the only one of the 3 running Win98, the other 2 are running WinXP. I found Nimda and Magistr viruses on one of the XP computers, but they did not show up on this one or the other XP computer.

I'm gonna go with either bad drivers or a blown video card. Though it could very well be a virus; I've never had one so don't know much about them.

I sure don't mind TS topics popping up here once in a while. Nice change of pace! I don't venture often to General Hardware, but I did yesterday. Seems kinda dead!

Anyway, I'd start swapping parts on that puppy. First, try the monitor on another PC. Next, try a new video card in there. If it can't bootup without trouble, it's got to be hardware. Hmmm, I guess some virus do mess up the BIOS... <gulp> :Q
