I love getting technical support calls.... from my mom. She called me yesterday because she had shut down the computer and had no idea how to turn it on. I told her to press the big button on the box, and she kept saying it wasnt working. Turns out she was pressing the power button on the monitor! I tried to explain what the box looked like, long, tall, white in color... and she was like, 'oh! the power strip?' No!! The rectangular box, about a a foot and a half tall, should be to the left of the desk. Probably has a bunch of CDs resting on it...

She finally found it... after about 10 minutes... I can't wait to go home for the holidays and laugh at her 🙂
 
LOL! My mom sent me a digi cam that they got two of. It's one of those piece of crap type from sending in all your Marlboro points. She keeps telling me I need to call her to help her figure it out. The camera sucks! I couldn't figure it out myself. I often find myself helping my mother with computer related problems too.
 
If you think it's bad doing it for family imagine it being your job! 🙂 Naw, I enjoy my work but some people really can be beyond stupid and not just when it comes to computers.

ROTFLMAO - is it that slim crappy scientific pocket camera? My mom has one too, from Marlboro 😛 HAHAHA.

Yep that's the one. It's really small and slim. Does it work? How is the quality of the pictures?

They BLOW. Seriously, I've seen better quality out of a 20 buck webcam. :disgust: Not only that, but if your mother tries to install the stuff on the cd, she'll get a bunch crap installed on her computer :|

haha, tell me about it.. i have to deal with the desktop help desk at work here, they are really incompetent. i have to show them step by step how to find the control panel. "single click the start button on the bottom left of the screen"...

😛 I had the ole "I'm getting an error message when I turn the computer on" but didn't know I left a floppy in the drive classic this morning.
 
the only thing i really watch out for is if they ever try to buy/pay for something online. trying to exlpain the differences between http and https is annoying as anything. also trying deter them from buying from fake sites & giving out their passwords just because someone sends them an email.

i think i'd feel safer if they would just listen to me once out of every 5 times i have to explain the same thing.
