yea i could try that.. it appears as if he had a watercooling kit possibly.. I am just so confused.. I just mailed the guy I bought my cpu from asked him if he tested it.. Because it was just in retail box with heatsink.. wasn't sur eif it had been used or not.

if your sure it's not the psu, then test all of your components one by one until you find the culprit. If you have another pc laying around, use it as a tester.

I wish I had a tester laying around, I don't ahve any athlon 64 setups unfortunately... I really need to test the cpu because thats the only thing I am unsure about I got it on ebay but the guy has great seller feedback so I don't think he'd send me a busted cpu

Hey, LiquidIce1337, I just got home and saw your PM's. I'm going to try to join in and see if I can be of help.

I wanted to start off by saying that the PSU was completely functional when I shipped it. I did ship it with FedEx (ground) and my experience has been that they are a little better about not damaging things than other shipping companies.

What I would suggest, if you are comfortable with this, is trying to establish that the PSU was not damaged. It is possible to get the power supply to startup, without being connected to a motherboard, but you have to resort to creating a short. If you don't do it properly, then you can get a little shock to the system.

Here is a guide to doing this:
http://duxcw.com/faq/ps/ps4.htm

1) unplug everything & turn the power supply off by switching to "O" for Open (there is a toggle switch on the back with an "O" and a "|")
2) remove the power supply from the pc
3) bend a paperclip in a small "U" shape
4) take the ATX (motherboard) connector in your hand
5) insert the paperclip to create a connection between pin-14 (the green pin that had the extra wire) and ground (pin-15)

Another illustration of the ATX pinout can be found, here:

http://www.webhelp.org/jonnyguru/atx/

6) connect a case fan or another device to one of the peripheral molex connectors (the 4-wire connectors you plug into the hard drive, cd-rom, etc. This is to make sure that there is some draw on the power supply ... basically how you see if it turns on.

7) With the paperclip inserted and NOT touching anything else, plug the PSU into the wall
8) flick the switch on the back of the power supply

The fan or whatever you plugged in _should_ turn on

I'll be around again after 6:00 PM and do whatever it takes to:
a) establish that the PSU is still working and figure out how to get it to work with your board
b) establish that the PSU is dead and figure out how to get money to you from FedEx for busting it up in shippment

This is the second time something that I have shipped has not worked. The first was a Tyan MP board that UPS busted when I shipped it to marill and I ultimately refunded his money and took it up with UPS (to no avail) 🙁

I only mention this so you don't feel like you are being 'taken'.

Best regards,
-boggsie

Yea I tested the wire trick.. no psu fans.. nor did I get the psu to power anything tht was plugged into it.. what I did was I clipped some more off that extra wire for that waterblock and connected the green and black directly to eachother i believe it was 4 pins down ont he righ closest tot he connecter and the blakc was 4 pins up on the left side.. plugged it into the wall and then flipped it I/O switch to I and no go.. after about 5 tries.

So I am assuming the package got pretty messed up.. I will take a picture of it.. the funny thing is when I recieved it.. the package was a mess I still have the box but it doesnt look as terrible as it did. and the pakcing inside of it should kept in fine unless they hucked it across the room like i have seen them do on tv at christmas eve they had fottage of it. I'll get a pic of the box but I don't know how to go about getting fedex to get me my money back.

Here are the pictures of the exact box it was sent it.. exactly what it looked like when it arrived..

removed and deleted

it looked like akids lunchbag that got sat on and the peanut butter was oozing out..

um, I dont think its a good idea to post both your names/addresses in a picture on a 125,000 person public forum. I would photoshop them out or remove jpgs
