Technical note: Maxtor 81GB and Windows Fdisk.

If you're setting up one of these drives and Win 98 fdisk says it's 1.26GB, don't worry about it. When you format, it will setup the entire capacity.

Thanks for the heads up. I wonder what would happen if you used the Microsoft large IDE drive patch on Windows ME and then copied out FDISK onto the boot floppy. Would the patch correct FDISK as well?

Running the drive under Win2k, so I'm not sure if I'll run into a similar problem or not... but if I do... at least I got an advance notice...
