Technical Drawings of Computer Case

I am looking for some technical case drawings to make my own ATX case. I know I could just use a tape measure, but I thought it might be easier to start with something and modify it. Especially if there are certain standards like the ATX form factor for motherboards found here. Does anybody know if any case manufacturers provide this sort of documentation?

I also need to know if there is a place to buy internal drive bays(the actual part that you secure your drives to). I think my best bet on these might be to get junk towers and strip them down.

If anyone else has made their own case I would like to see it.

Thanks,

cank

i would get autocad and just start from scratch. it's fun.

check your local computer recycling center and surplus shops for scrap parts.

if you're just looking for spec. here's the spec for probably the most popular case around here.

Well, I guess I should have been more precise in my question. I am looking for specs like, proper ofsets for motherboards, mounting hole placement, minimum total width, back panel specs, etc...

But yeah, I think you are right, I should just start from scratch.

I actually found some in this section from mikki on holloween cases. Now thats what I'm talkin' about. Some of those are sick.

Thanks for replying.

Cank;
Directron has case 'skeletons' very cheap.
i.e. partial cases that you could use as the basis of your own design or to use to make measurements from.
As far as case manufacturers providing 'engineering drawings' (similar to the ATX form factors you cite); sure they have the specification drawings, but no way they are going to share them with you.
The Antec website has 3.5 drive 'bays' available, but IMHO those space the drives too close together!
Check out this website and look at the "Drive Ladder" and the "Drive Master" products - probably what you are looking for.
