Technical aeronautical term help please.

What is the technical term for the phenomenon where when flying, something goes wrong structurally and the planes wings actually begin to flap and then end up ripping themselves off.

I am not talking about turbulence. I think it has something to do with the way the plane was built and sound/vibrations.

Am I thinking of aeroelastic flutter?

...before that happens, it's takes 2-3 seconds for it to build up

never gone through the whoop-dee-doos at the wrong speed to have any idea what that's like. Bouncing on a trampoline is wave superposition, not structural-aeroelastic coupling.
