Make up your mind already you can't have cheap + quality. No free lunch remember? Besides its not like that the tech support here in US was so great to begin with. Try talking to some clown in Alabama.

Here at work we have problems with Dell support as well but we have found that most of the times its the connection which is causing the problem.

Who said anything about the prices? I would gladly pay more for better support though.

Then under the options, Dell has the "Pay more for special tech support".

yuppers

I sure as hell dont feel like spending an extra $200.

So, it is not true that Level 1 just has a checklist/cheatsheet and anything more complex than that list is escalated to Level 2

Yes there are internal online tools that we use, that have to be used for a dispatch the system tracks if you used them for a dispatch. But all the guys I now would have the same FTF and FTR without the tools .

BTW I have never had to send a call to a L2 tech, and I have had around 3000 calls.

I hoping that I will get into the GTS que "Gold Tech Support" or mayber Server or Storage.

Go thru hot deals forum here and at fart wallet. Most of the PC's are discounted via coupons or some special deals. I never said dell support here was incompetent. All I said was support here is no better(in most cases) than in Indial. But if I had to choose between support here or in India, I would pick local US support.

Uh, AT and FW type sales don't even amount to 1% of Dell's sales.

It's not as if the tech support was great before everything was going over there. It's not like the people that were doing the lower levels of support are geniuses. Do that many even have any type of college degree?

You're not alone. I got lip from some Indian tech support b*tch. It's great to know Indians have adopted arrogant American attitude on the phone.

BTW, I wrote my Congressman to stop this practice of sending jobs to India, etc. You guys should do the same!

Indians have the WORST accent possible to try and decipher their english. They might speak perfect english.....you just can't hear it through the damn accent half the time. I'm not knocking Indians....but if you cannot be understood when speaking english then you have no business doing phone tech support or teaching me Physics in school

I don't think so...From what I have seen; ppl from Latin America have the WORST accent; closely followed by people from Eastern Asia (a.k.a the Orient)
I agree with you on the fact that Indians might speak perfect English. I think they DO need to work on their accent.

The fact is, the savings from Dell's offshore TS goes to YOUR pockets. There's a reason you don't find Apple computers going for <$500.

It always amazes me that people buy loaded systems for peanuts and then expect stellar tech support. If you don't like it, nobody is forcing you to buy it. If you really need excellent TS, then the option that lets you buy primo tech support for a couple hundred bucks. But if you want to pay jack $hit for a system and then bitch about the support you get, kindly do us all a favor and STFU.

Everything's going to india :(

My dad was forced to move from NJ to TX because Chase merged with JP Morgan (and he wanted to hit 15 years to get benefits), and just a year later he finds out chase is laying off pretty much everybody and hiring people in india for $5k/year.

I'm sure people in india are happy as hell though :|

Exactly....the problem I had with them was support for the hard drive dying in the computer. It was popping loud and data kept becoming corrupt on it too....and XP was blue screening. Kind of a "duh" there....but the Indian on the other line was saying it was a problem with the Network!!!!!!!!!!!!! " Sir, you have network unplugged from computer?" WTF??
Indians will tell you that they are the smartest people in the world.....hmm, I guess all the smart ones have already hopped the boat.

No... i am smart ... and am still waiting to hop the boat!

Moreover... i have had terrible experiences with Dell India. The Tech support truly sucks... even by India standards :)

I've dealt with support technicians with India/Arab accents through HP/Compaq and the service was fine. However, this was for basic support in which we had already figured out the trouble ourselves i.e. video card, mice. Yes, I asked them to repeat a few of the questions, but nothing to get upset over. Actually, the Indian tech personnel figured out a shipping error caused by an American tech. But, I must add, that I do hate to see jobs going overseas.

I speak with Indians daily as part of my job and have taught myself to decipher what they were saying even though many of them have very thick accents.

Last time I called though I could understand her yet she couldn't understand me, yet I have trained myself to speak with nary an accent(Southern boy). I was going to complain but did not receive an service evaluation form.

Welcome to the world you helped create..

I would agree with you if any of the so called American cars were actually made/designed in America.

also...most of the foreign car companies assemble their cars in the US. so although the prefits are going to Germany/Japan, US workers are gettin atleast a cut of it. btw...if ford/gm made as good a car (in looks and quality) as bmw/vw/mercedes...id gladly buy an "american car"
