You'll need a powerful GPU to maintain 60fps at 1080p in The Crew -- ideally a GeForce GTX 780 or Radeon R9 290 given that anything faster is overkill with the frame rate cap.

Cards such as the HD 7970 (R9 280X) and GTX 770 are more than capable of delivering perfectly smooth gameplay and there are many GPUs that will offer 40fps, such as the R9 270X and GTX 760.

What is up with Kepler???

The GTX 700 series GPUs were surprisingly slow at 2560x1600 as the GTX 780 Ti fell 4fps behind the R9 290 and 8fps behind the R9 290X. Meanwhile the GTX 780 was just 1fps faster than the HD 7970 GHz Edition, a card that averaged just 32fps.

Stop drawing conclusion from any console port without a few patches. We have seen it over and over again how it can radically change. Both CPU and GPU wise.

And this game sure needs some patches. (Yes I own it.)

Can you quote me where I draw a conclusion? I just posted the article.

It's now a known fact that Kepler tanks in modern games. If this was a one-off scenario, sure it could be understandable but this trend is seen in 5-6 Big games released in the last 6 months. It should be a good lesson for NV owners to not overspend with hopes of futureproofing. The best strategy has and will continue to be upgrading more often. Obviously there is some allure with knowing you have flagship performance for X number of months but when all is said and done the extra money spent on 285/580/680/780Ti/Titan over 2nd best card is wasted $. Historical data backs this up as well as NV cards being the first to run into VRAM bottlenecks unless you splurge $100 extra for their rip-off double VRAM versions.

However, despite how overpriced 780/780Ti were, 980 easily sets the record for the most overpriced next gen card with the least amount of performance over last gen. EVGA classified 980 for $699 is jokes. Hopefully NV gets their Kepler drivers in order for 2015. Also, I am personally looking to true next gen PC games in 2015 as FC4, AC Unity, DAI, The Crew, COD:AW all disappointed technically.

Yep. Nothing wrong with drivers here. It's game's fault. /sarc

yeah thats the key. this is not a one-off game scenario. consistently underperforming in many of the key recent titles. FC4, DAI, Ryse to name a few others. whats more the VRAM limitations showed up just as we were saying. So now the GTX 770 is VRAM limited at 1080p and the same applies for GTX 780 Ti with 3GB at 1440p/1600p in the most recent titles.

I think it's really strange that they test some low end cards, 1366x768 but can't lower settings from ultra+aa4x

Ouch, really glad I ditched my 780 when it was worth good money. So glad.

And how many of those were Ubisoft games? Their games seem to have the most problems on PC.

Every company wants their consumers to buy the latest and greatest as often as possible. NV isn't special in that regard.

Exactly, except that one is greedier than the other because it can. AMD cannot allow themself to tag a flagship (single GPU) at 1000$.

Seriously. Posters identifying with 'their company' as a good or bad guy or worse a underdog are suffering from delusion. Says something about them?

This game looks interesting. I'm partial to driving games. Will wait for sales, and patches.

Seems we have the same couple posters spamming every thread with editorial like rants about conspiracy theories. It's getting old. Nothing unusual going on, but agendas being pushed.
Funny how Tonga is never addressed. That launch would win the Golden Raspberry. 770 beats the ghz 7970 which beats the gtx 680 which beats the 7970, exactly how I remember the launches playing out.
And then , down there is the r9 285 / (gulp).

It runs 4k better than 1600p with AA(contrary to nvidia):

I swear someone at Techspot read my complaining on these forums about the lack of 768p numbers in modern gpu benchmarks on lower end hardware.God bless them. Its still the second most used resolution outside of 1080p according to Steam so nice to know its made a return.

Some of these newer reviews are hilarious when they include like a 7750 and its averaging 22fps at 1080p as if that is enjoyment. I game at 768p for now so i am very thankful for these benchmarks. Nice performance for my 770 at 768p/1050p but the obvious tanking for 1080p starts right with my 770 lol but performance doesn't appear to be bad still.:)

Nice try, but I won't.

Well, you said you didn't draw any conclusions, and yet you did. This was not a "try", but a fact. You don't have to reply I'm not going to try to drag it out of you.
Looking forward to trying out this title though. Not really my type of game but it's looks pretty interesting. Nvidia and AMD both performing well in it. Maybe alternative methods of AA can be employed in the driver for better framerates.

There's my video card, near the bottom. I'm used to it though and it doesn't matter, I only play video games at 1920 X 1080 and that is fine with me. I've given up on the endless chase for better graphics, I just like to play the game. After a couple beers, it's all 1280 X 720 anyway.

I like driving games and was thinking of getting The Crew, but I got a chance to play Project Cars; that's the one I'm really waiting for.

More of the same?
http://gamegpu.ru/racing-simulators-/-gonki/the-crew-test-gpu.html

Because I can't remember the last time that Techpost had posted game benchmark that was useful and in line with other reviewers results.

OTOH I can easily remember some of their off-chart results -
From the top of my head: Borderlands PhysX investigation and Wolfenstein results. Whats going on

Remember Borderlands and 7970(*CPU) beating 680 with PhysX(*) on High

Did I draw a conclusion in the main OP? No !!

In the context of the OP he didn't and he is correct in that regard, that does not mean he can not subsequently.
