I'm writing an article for my website about the pros and cons of teamspeak and ventrilo. Right down I'm doing some field research just to see what everyday gamers have to say.

If you have time, please tell me which one is better and what features make it better that the other one doesn't have. You should also back up your results with something. It can be as simple as "I've used TS and Ventrilo for three years now and I know Ventrilo is better because xxxxx."

Thanks for the help!

I've heard a lot of both programs.
Ventrilo has better sound quality than Teamspeak.
With the latest version of ventrilo you can only have a maximum of 8 connected persons.
Teamspeak has a lot of more features. I'd like to stay with Ventrilo becaus of it's classic & clean look and simple interface.
Haven't tried out Teamspeak so much but there's nothing wrong with it. If you don't want to buy the commercial version of Ventrilo I would recommend you to download on of the earlier versions cause they support unlimited peers. Well you can always look at their sites and compare their features and make a thread in their forums.

Teamspeak 2 and Ventrilo are similar but Teamspeak servers are usually cheaper to rent and I like the interface of Teamspeak better, Ventrilos codecs are a bit better but it means dialup people are stuck are you use them, on Teamspeak I normally use Speek 25kb (the best) and that sounds fine for voice (music is a little poor).

Teamspeak 2s down fall though is admin which will be sorted out in Teamspeak 3 (being developed atm should be released soon). I haven't used Ventrilo enough to test the admin out.

Edit:

This page is helpful to show you the differences (from a hosting company):

Teamspeak has a unofficial Mac client as well now but Teamspeak have put links to it on it's download page
