I was also curious to know if there is anywhere to read about how good our chess player is..... (or isn't)

are we playing chess games now, or are they just processing potential positions and moves in preparation for "the big one"?

and to sid..I think they are constantly playing games, you can goto the website and click on one of the viewers to see a game in action.

As for how good we are, I think that we basically suck, but that we are proving that the technology works, and once it can be adapted to better chess logic, it will get better.

We are actually playing real games, but mostly against other computer programs. The chess engine that chessbrain is based off of (Beowulf) is considered a mid-level computer engine. It couldn't beat a Grand Master, but it can more then easily beat 99.9% of chess players. Because of all the latency sending out work, it takes quite a number of computers playing to equal beowulf running on a single computer, even though they calculate things using the exact same process. Currently, Chessbrain has been playing beowulf quite a bit, and is usually winning or drawing, although occasionally losing. This is with 500 computers or so.

They are trying to line up a world class player for a world record attempt of the most computers playing a single chess game.

Mori, yesterday was a below average day for us. At yesterday's rate, it will take 24 days to get number 5.
