Chess brain is something that shouldn't be run w/o running another dc client since it is only in use for a small amount of time. It will probably increase the time to finish a seti wu, but I don't think it will increase it by much.

SETI and chessbrain run fine together since chess brain only need CPU now and then. Im running it beside SETI on an XP 2000+ but havent really found out exactly how much it affects seti. It seems to be lower than one SETI WU a day though.

I have it running with SOB and have found no effect on SOB.

nice little project to run, we should be able to get a lot of folks to run this!!

I'm sure how much data it sends, but it appears that you do need a constant connection to receive/send work since each packet of work only takes seconds to complete. It appears to me that the work is aborted if it takes you too long to complete it. This makes sense since you are calculating the next move in the chess game the servers need to get the work back in a short amount of time.

I'm sure someone else will be able to answer your question better since I have no idea how much bandwidth it takes up.
